Azrael had lost count of the times their father chained Luther in the dungeons. But it never mattered, Luther always escaped. Always came back worse.
And Nimoieth? The gods themselves had turned their backs on her. Her soul was hidden somewhere so deeply, so cleverly concealed, that not even divine eyes could find it. Not even her spirit could be traced.
It was time. A sacred portal had to be formed, to drag Luther into the gods' territory where the sacred circle would seal his fate. But there was a problem.
Kai was still engaged in battle. If he stayed too close, he'd be pulled into that realm as well.
Kai caught Azrael's eye from the corner of his vision. "Do it, Az!" he shouted, his voice thundering like a war drum, snapping Azrael out of hesitation.
Azrael raised his hands and began the summoning. A divine formation ignited above Luther, and golden rings spiraled into existence.
Luther looked up, ready to flee…
