Today happend to be the capture the flag game and I was absolutely prepared to mess with the campers even more. Because up until now, no one had ever seen me use any ability connected to the sea. Not once.
So now, while everyone was gearing up, I was currently playing with a simple armor that i had create and by simple I actually mean it this time.
I had picked up a hammer and beat a piece of Celestial Bronze into the form I wanted. There were small but ultimately unimportant enchantments on it. The armor itself was able to hide itself as a comfortable dress shirt, a belt, suit pants and dress shoes. Besides that it would slowly repair itself if I supplied it with magic and it would return to me if I ever lost it. There was even a helmet I had made that would disguise itself as a collar/choker on my neck. The helmet itself had a visor and air filtration but that was it.
Then there was the weapon I had made. It had the same enchantments as the armor, self repair, return and disguise. It was a one handed weapon that could also be used with both, I had kept it in the form of a Han Jian (Chinese Longsword). Once in disguise it would turn into a pen, just like riptide.
Just like in canon, I was on the side of the Athena-Cabin, together with the Hermes-, Dionysius- and Apollo-Cabin.
The opposition consisted of the Ares-, Aphrodite-Hephestus and Demeter-Cabin.
Of course Annabeth had positioned me just like she had in canon, on the sides, just to bait the Ares-Cabin.
Unlucky for her, I got along with them swimmingly. So there I stood, "alone" in the forest as I heard a hellhound growl, only to stop once it caught my scent as I had allowed "small" traces of monster scent to leak from me. Then both of us heard a twig snap. It was very silent from here on out but I knew, based on the scent alone, that the hellhound had decided to lay low for now, to hold of from attacking me.
Annabeth, hiding under her invisibility cap, not even thinking of telling me she was there, of course hadn't noticed the immediate proximity of a monster. Instead she just watched me.
I don't know how she could possibly be "the most intelligent daughter of Athena" of this century if she thought this was an acceptable way of wasting time during a war game like this and let's not even talk about that strategy of her delusional brain.
Did she really not notice how well I got along with the Ares-Cabin? Neither me nor Clarisse and Ethan bothered to hide it but she still positioned me here. Their not even going to attack from this side.
Suddenly there was the sound of footsteps.
*Huh, guess I was wrong. But why are they here?"
My question was answered as soon as Ethan groaned once he spotted.
" Didn't Travis say this side was unprotected?"
And then there was Clarisse, who immediately knocked him on the head out of frustration.
" Do you have brain damage! Why would you trust him of all people. Their notoriously for their pranks! At least it's only one enemy as far as I can tell. So we can succeed."
*Yeah you can, just come here and try." I thought but that didn't happen as Ethan finally spotted me.
"Yeah, no. Let's find another way to breach their defenses. I'm not fighting him."
*poor guy must be thinking of what I had done to Bogey Man. It doesn't help him either that I have already shown some magical abilities of mine. So he's probably thinking a set up a perimeter of traps.*
"Why not it's just... Shit. It's Jackson isn't it. Of course it's Jackson, who else."
* was that Clarisse just know? I don't know what I did to make her react that way but I'm certainly not looking a gifted horse in it's mouth. The less I have to fight the better. Gonna have to ask her about it later though.*
And with that they left.
Eventually the noise in the forest increased, followed by many hurried footsteps, yells and shouting.
And there they were, Luke Castellan, also known as the lightning thieve, Markus (a child of Athena) and a few more unfamiliar faces, rushing towards the creek I was in front of. Behind them was a gaggle of almost feral children of Ares and one feral Silena Beauregard, chasing after them and throwing random things at the retreating backs of the other campers.
Then Luke crossed the border, Ice found out immediately and Luke was deported to Venezuela. The End.
Just kidding.
Luke crossed the creek and, along with fireworks and the sound of the conch-horn, the winner was declared.
Everyone swarmed towards Luke, to either lift him up or to congratulate him I didn't know. But eventually it turned into both as several people flung themselves at him while others began lifting him up. This resulted in an impressive display of domino, weak or simply wrong architecture and a whole lot of bruises. But the mess of entangled lims and screaming heads on the floor was worth witnessing.
I, too, had approached to celebrate, pretending to forget about the hellhound and exposing my back to it.
Ut attacked almost immediately after that, growling and running at me in full speed. If I didnt know any better I would have thought I was standing in front of a fright train.
In response to the approaching monster I got into a sword stance, the weapons was centrally in front of me, ready for me to swing down, but things didn't happen as I had expected.
An arrow, almost from out of nowhere, buried itself in my ankle, causing me to scream out in pain and to fall on the knee of my injured leg.
This unfortunately positioned and exposed my the back of my neck to the hellhound, which immediately tried to grab onto it. Sadly it had apparently forgotten about the sword I was still holding which I had repositioned when I fell.
While still injured, I tucked my head and back a little bit closer to my leg, making the frontlegs of the hound miss it's target almost completely, instead it had managed to pierce it's own chest with my sword.
The mass and kinetic energy from the hound was almost immediately transfered over to me and then everything became a blur of tangled limbs and fur.
The end result was me being 1. Covered in golden dust from the newly deceased monster and 2. having a profoundly bleeding injury on my back.
So there I lay, my upper body on the shallow side of the creek and my injured leg, which may or may not had broken from the weight of the hellhound crushing me with its entire dead weight before it had exploded into dust, in the deeper parts of it.
I began to feel the arrow being pushed out of the wound, followed by new, undamaged skin, not even leaving a scar to remember it by.
Right above my head, still laying inside the creek, they symbol of Poseidon appeared like a golden hologram. The sound of waves, calm but persistent, echoed in my ears and then everything faded to black. I only remember thinking one thing.
*Not again.*
