"Layla, tell me honestly, do you think of me as selfish?" The question tugged a string at her heart, and her breathing hitched; she squinted her eyes, thinking he might be joking, but his somber expression didn't change, worrying her further.
"No… Why would you even ask that?" Layla's voice faltered as she reached out and caressed his cheek.
"You must think of me as one, considering I'm still holding back when I can easily prove David is your father and how he deceived you." He paused, looking at her, but when she didn't comment, he continued.
"You might think I'm putting my needs higher as I want to prove David is my parents' killer too, ignoring the ordeal you went thro—"
"Shut up!" Layla's voice echoed in the room. Michael didn't mind as he lowered his gaze. He felt pathetic. Is she going to leave her? Sure as hell, she must be disappointed in him for her to raise her voice so high. He mused.
