The unmarked SUV carrying Isabella weaved through downtown traffic with practiced efficiency. Liam maintained a careful distance, his sedan inconspicuous among the evening commuters. The vehicle ahead took a sudden turn onto a less traveled street, moving away from the direction of police headquarters.
'Definitely not standard procedure,' Liam thought, adjusting his route to follow. His phone sat in the passenger seat, set to speaker mode as he dialed Seraphina.
"Twice in one day," she answered, her voice carrying a hint of amusement. "To what do I owe the pleasure?"
"Cut the act," Liam said, accelerating through a yellow light to keep the SUV in sight. "Isabella's been arrested and is now being transported in an unmarked vehicle with Marcus inside. I know you have something to do with this."
"Oh?" Seraphina's tone remained light. "And why would you think that?"
