Back in his room, Ryder sat down at his computer and began typing. This was his secret to becoming rich—writing all the famous books from his previous life in this world.
He didn't know why, but in this life, he was blessed with a photographic memory, allowing him to recall everything he had ever seen or read, even just once. It was this extraordinary ability that enabled him to recreate entire novels, word for word, and present them as his own.
As his fingers danced across the keyboard, he couldn't help but smirk. These books, already beloved in his previous world, were gaining traction here, making him a literary sensation. Ryder knew he was rewriting history, but he saw it as a fair trade for his second chance at life.
His work was done for the day. Ryder stretched before settling into bed, staring at the ceiling as his mind wandered.
"Hm… haah… I wonder if there's any chance of gaining powers," he mumbled, his voice trailing off as he felt sleep creeping in. Closing his eyes, he allowed himself to relax, slipping into a light nap.
Ding!
Ryder's eyes shot open at the sudden sound. Sitting up in surprise, he noticed a translucent blue screen floating in front of him.
[Energy is being calibrated...]
[System is starting now...]
[Congratulations, host! You have been selected as the host of the Ultimate Fantasy System!]
The screen flickered, displaying various options:
[System Guide]
[Status]
[Quests]
[Shop]
Ryder blinked in disbelief, rubbing his eyes to ensure he wasn't dreaming. But the screen remained, its glow illuminating his room.
"A… system?!" he exclaimed, his heart pounding with excitement.
"YESSSSS!" Ryder screamed, punching the air in excitement.
In the other room, his mother heard the sudden outburst and glanced up from her cookbook. "Did he win something?" she wondered aloud before shrugging and returning to her recipe book.
Meanwhile, Ryder's elder sister and younger brother, hearing his victorious yell, exchanged curious looks. "What's he so excited about?" his sister asked.
"No idea," his little brother replied with a shrug. "Guess we'll find out at dinner."
The family didn't think much of it, though. They were used to Ryder celebrating one success after another, thanks to his books and newfound fame. Whatever this new victory was, they assumed it was just another milestone in his already impressive streak.
Ryder sat back as he looked at his system.
"System, what is your function?" he asked, then waited and sighed.
"I guess it is not a sentient system," he added, shaking his head. "System," he said again, hoping for an answer.
[System Guide]
[Status]
[Quests]
[Shop]
Ryder went through the guide and, after a moment, understood what the system could do. First, he could enable the system's AI, kind of like an assistant, but for now he kept didn't enabled it, and Kept it without any personal thoughts or emotions. Another feature was that he could sign in once every month and year, and as the name suggested, it is "Ultimate Fantasy," which included all fantasy worlds from anime to even TV dramas and sci-fi fantasy. He could essentially access anything related to fantasy.
Then there was the Shop option, which he could access with fantasy points. These fantasy points could be earned by signing in monthly/yearly or through quest functions.
The quest function, without the AI enabled, could also help him. He could give himself a quest, such as defeating someone like Loki, and then the system would check Loki's powers and such, offering rewards in fantasy points based on the difficulty of the quest.
"Okay, now I understand," he muttered as he pushed the Sign-in function, where he got two options: Monthly and Yearly sign-in, both lit up since he had yet to sign in.
He first pressed the Monthly Sign-in.
[Congratulations, Host, on signing in for the first time. Changing Monthly fixed Sign-in to Random Sign-in.]
[Host gained Ryomen Sukuna Template - Unique.]
[ Sign-in rewards: Common - Uncommon - Rare - Epic - Unique - Legendary - Mythical - Transcendent. ]
[ Monthly Sign-in: From Common to Epic. ]
[ Yearly Sign-in: From Rare to Mythical. ]
[ The Transcendent reward is only available in Random Sign-in, which can be earned by completing Quest Difficulties of Legendary level or above. ]
Ryder looked at the silvery card in his hand, with Ryomen Sukuna's face on it. It depicted his human form with just two hands, pink hair, and the markings on his face and body.
"Just crush the card to obtain it," Ryder muttered, remembering the instructions.
Ryder nodded as he squeezed the card in his hand, breaking it in half. The card shattered into motes of light, which then flowed into his body.
For a moment, Ryder felt like something was blooming inside him, as a foreign name appeared in his mind.
[Cursed Energy Manipulation]
[Name: Ryder Maxwell]
[Age: 16]
[Level: 1]
[Abilities: Cursed Energy Manipulation]
[Template: Ryomen Sukuna (1%)]
[Remark: Host can practice the cursed energy manipulation and give himself quests to advance in template integration.]
Ryder closed his eyes as he felt the cursed energy flowing through him. He then held out his hand, and from his palm, a white, ghastly mist began to seep out. It was his cursed energy, swirling in eerie tendrils.
"Dam, cool," he mumbled, admiring the mist as it danced from his hand.
Though controlling it was hard, as he tried to shape it, he was only able to let it flow out of his body and not move it in any other way.
"I guess this is what the system remark meant," he mumbled as he looked at it and then closed his hand.
He dismissed it as he looked at the next option of yearly sign in, the Monthly one is now dimmed, with 30 days countdown on it. Signifying now that he can only sign in next month now.
"Time to find out what it can give me," he mumbled as he touched the option, activating the yearly sign-in.
The sign in moved like a spinning wheel as after a moment it landed on single reward on rewards section.
