IAN
I still couldn't get over the fact that she was closer to Blake than I thought. How couldn't I think it through when she only gained access to this position because of Blake?
I walked out of the office with Blake about going to the pack house, when he stopped me saying he needed to go visit a family.
"What family?" I asked.
Blake only has a sister who isn't even close by for now and while I have no family we are both brothers.
"The Thompsons," he answered, making me raise my brow. "I am close to them and have been invited for dinner to celebrate Emma's first day. I wanted to go home with Emma but you didn't allow that," he explained.
My eyes narrowed at this, "What is your relationship with Emma?" I asked, already getting annoyed.
Only then did the little smile on his face disappear, "I recalled something… what do you mean by rejection? She isn't your mate is she?"
I decided to be straightforward with Blake, no point in beating around the bush. "Yeah... she's my mate, and seeing you with her is getting me pissed."
Blake raised an eyebrow, a smirk spreading across his face. "If I recall correctly, you rejected her. She was your mate, but I heard you announced that Lady Nyx would be your Luna."
I growled, my patience wearing thin. "Blake, that's not the point."
But Blake just scoffed. "Alpha, you can't be with her. You need someone stronger to make your pack stronger. You wouldn't want to be on bad terms with your business partner, would you?"
My anger boiled over, and I snapped, "Blake!"
But he just kept going, his words cutting deep. "I am not going to hide my feelings. I saw her first, even before you, and I am happy that you can't make her your mate. So, I will fight for her, and make her mine."
My wolf thundered in my chest, ready to attack Blake, but I controlled myself. I took a deep breath, trying to calm down.
Blake, seemingly oblivious to the danger he was in, nodded at me.
"Alpha, I will be leaving. Have a good night, and enjoy your time with your lady."
With that, he walked off, leaving me standing there, feeling lost and angry. He knew nothing about our relationship, nothing about how we had started.
The only reason I had never taken in a Luna was because I had been searching for her. And now that I had finally found her, Blake was trying to take her away from me.
I followed Blake, tracking him to the Thompsons' residence without his notice. I wanted to know more about them, and this seemed like the perfect opportunity.
I stood at a distance, observing Blake enter an old cabin. My mind wandered back to the conversation I had with Theo about the Thompson family. It was surprising how little I knew about them, despite being their Alpha for several years.
As I watched, a familiar scent wafted through the air, and I followed it to see Emma walking home with her hands filled with files.
I needed to discuss this with Nyx, and my thoughts turned to Emma's workload.
She couldn't be the only one handling the job, if she wasn't satisfied, she could leave. I don't care about the potential consequences to my pack if her father refuses to collaborate with me.
Emma walked inside, and I followed, stopping midway to avoid alerting the family.
I needed to speak with her alone. Despite being outside, I could still track her scent, which led me to a room where I overheard her mother, expressing concerns about Emma's well-being and asking about Nyx.
What caught my attention, however, was the mention of Emma's medication. Was she suffering from an illness, in addition to her sister's condition?
After her mother left, I climbed through the open window, feeling a sense of unease about sneaking into Emma's room.
I turned off the light and watched as she walked out of the bathroom, I could feel the worry in her voice. I swiftly moved towards her, grabbing her and clamping my hand over her mouth.
"Shhh... it's me," I whispered, feeling a surge of relief as she recognized my voice.
"Al… alpha.." she struggled to breathe and let her off immediately, and then the light turned back on, making her see me.
"Why are you here? How… when?"
"I am the alpha, you don't expect that not to be easy for me." she gulped down nervously as she shifted her weight from one foot to another.
"Are you having an ill relationship with Blake?" I asked and her eyes widened, but that surprised look disappeared almost immediately as she was just recalling something.
"That has nothing to do with you, you rejected me already, and are about to make Nyx your Luna.." she argued with me, the familiar irritation clear in her eye.
I didn't know when a smile slipped off my face, I hardly do so ever since she had betrayed me she caused me pain, broke my heart into pieces, and dumped me uselessly.
I leaned closer to her, and immediately she gulped down nervously, flickering her eyes.
"Are you jealous that my Luna wouldn't be you?" I asked, making her heave a scoff.
"Never… I am not jealous you can be with whoever you want to be with," that familiar pain tore through my heart, as my wolf whimpered again at another rejection from her.
"But you haven't accepted my rejection," I stated and she nodded.
"Well… if you want that then I would…" I grabbed her wrist tightly, making her word left hanging.
"Don't you dare!" I growled my voice echoing through the wall, "As an Alpha of this pack, I am ordering you never to accept my rejection or tell anyone you are my mate." I pulled her closer to me, making her tremble under my touch.
The fear was evident in her eyes as she moved closer to me. This action of hers broke my heart but I need to do this to make her closer to me forever.
"Wh… why… you don't want me." and cried out, and a chuckle escaped my lips.
"Yes, I don't want you to be my Luna but by my side and make you go through every single pain you have made me go through." Just then the door pushed open.
