Chapter 273 - CHAPTER 273

Ninja Training and the Three Basic Jutsu

I was so excited when I arrived, and so embarrassed when I left.

After being kicked out of the house by Naruto, the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, walked alone down the dimly lit alley. His shadow stretched under the flickering streetlights until it disappeared at the end of the road.

Inside the room, Naruto was busy clearing away the dishes. Thinking about the ugly expression on the old man's face, he couldn't help but laugh.

"Hey, Kurama! Do you think I actually fought the Hokage and escaped unharmed in the end?" Naruto grinned.

"It seems that our strengths aren't that far apart."

Kurama, the Nine-Tailed Fox, remained expressionless. He had no energy to comment on Naruto's reckless bravado—acting like he'd won a fight when he barely scraped by.

But seeing Naruto's carefree smile, Kurama felt an inexplicable sense of relief. His eyes softened.

It really was different this time. Unlike his previous jinchūriki, Naruto was opening up to him.

The Next Morning

After his morning jog, Naruto returned home and found a cardboard box at his doorstep.

Holding it up, he looked around, smirking. "At least ANBU's delivery service isn't violent. They didn't smash my package this time."

Opening the box, he found several books related to ninja training. Titles like How to Extract Chakra Correctly, Essentials of Taijutsu, and Practice and Experience of the Three Basic Jutsu caught his eye.

Seeing them, Naruto's excitement surged.

Born with memories of another life, he had dreamed of harnessing supernatural power, of leaping across rooftops like a true ninja.

Grabbing the chakra refining book, he plopped onto the sofa and started reading. Some of the terminology was difficult, but he was determined to understand.

Based on the book—and his own deductions—chakra was formed by mixing physical energy and spiritual energy in equal measure. This fusion created the cornerstone of the ninja power system: chakra.

But balancing those energies was no simple task.

For beginners, refining chakra could take weeks. Some never succeeded and remained ordinary people forever.

Naruto, however, managed to refine chakra in just a few hours.

A warm current coursed through his body, flowing through his meridians, and he could even direct it at will.

Curious about its effects, Naruto channeled chakra into his arms, bent down, and grabbed the sofa legs.

With a light lift, he hoisted the heavy sofa over his head.

"Whoa—!"

His chakra drained too quickly. Losing strength, Naruto was crushed under the sofa with a thud!

Groaning, he crawled out, feeling both embarrassed and enlightened. Chakra training wasn't simple—it carried real risks.

After a few more cautious attempts, he improved.

Still, the racket caught the attention of the neighbors downstairs, who shouted at him for making a commotion so early in the morning.

Naruto ignored them and ran to the sealed space to share his excitement with Kurama.

Kurama barely lifted an eyelid.

"So, you refined chakra? Congrats. You've joined the thousands of other people in this village who can do the same. Want me to throw you a party?"

Naruto clicked his tongue.

Kurama deliberately ignored the fact that, for a beginner, Naruto's chakra reserves were already on par with a genin's.

Of course, to a tailed beast, genin, chūnin, and jōnin were all equally insignificant.

Realizing he wouldn't get any praise, Naruto left the sealed space.

Still, he was pleased. His chakra was at a solid level—easily comparable to four chakra cards in the training exercise.

With all that energy burned, Naruto's stomach growled. Time to eat.

Afternoon Training – The Three Basic Jutsu

After lunch, Naruto continued flipping through the books.

Experiencing chakra's boost to strength and speed made him eager to try ninjutsu. He still believed spellcasters were the coolest—far better than brute-force fighters.

Unfortunately, the jutsu the Third Hokage sent him was just the Three Basic Jutsu:

Clone Jutsu (Bunshin no Jutsu) – Used to confuse enemies.

Transformation Jutsu (Henge no Jutsu) – Essential for infiltration and disguise.

Substitution Jutsu (Kawarimi no Jutsu) – An instant escape technique.

They were basic, but also the foundation of every ninja's skillset.

The hand seals for the jutsu were simple, and Naruto memorized them quickly. However, hand seals were just a tool—the real challenge was controlling chakra properly.

Confident, Naruto began forming seals.

Poof!

As the smoke cleared, his clone appeared—collapsed on the ground, twitching with foam at the mouth.

"Ugh... classic…"

Naruto sighed. He had seen this before.

His Clone Jutsu failed because of interference from Kurama's chakra.

Realizing this, he immediately entered the sealed space.

Kurama lazily opened one eye.

"Kid, you can't even perform a basic jutsu? Give up on becoming a ninja. You're hopeless."

Naruto narrowed his eyes.

"Don't think I don't know you're messing with me. My seals and chakra control were fine. The only reason my jutsu failed was because of your chakra interference."

"Oh?" Kurama smirked. "You mean that tiny bit of chakra? I didn't do it on purpose. You just can't handle external chakra influences. But… if you beg me and call me 'Uncle Kurama,' I might consider helping."

He lifted his head proudly, already imagining Naruto pleading.

Naruto stared at him for a moment, then turned and left.

There was no way he would submit.

If he wanted to overcome Kurama's chakra interference, he had to master precise chakra control. But that required extensive practice—and he had no real training method.

Unless…

He suddenly remembered the Gentle Fist Training Manual he had obtained recently. Gentle Fist was all about chakra control.

This was exactly what he needed!

Without hesitation, Naruto immersed himself in studying the manual. The knowledge flowed into his mind, deepening his understanding of chakra precision and taijutsu combat.

Of course, mastering it would take extensive practice.

But first—dinner.

After a full day of training, his appetite had grown significantly. The food supply that was meant to last fifteen days would now only last ten.

He'd have to bargain with those stingy merchants again.

The Third Hokage was too cheap. The monthly allowance he provided was barely enough!

If only this were another world—one where he had the power of a god-king—he'd already have ways to make the old man pay.

Thinking about it all made Naruto feel exhausted.

Lying on his bed, he gazed at the moon outside his window and slowly drifted off to sleep.
