Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: A Butler’s Offer

The aroma of freshly made breakfast filled the house as I sat at the table with my grandmother. After meditating the entire night, I had just returned from my mind space, feeling refreshed yet burdened by the weight of my newfound knowledge.

As I picked up a piece of toast, a knock on the door interrupted our quiet morning. I was about to get up when my grandmother waved me off.

"You eat, Adam. I'll check who's at the door," she said, walking toward the entrance.

I watched as she opened the gate. A well-dressed man, wearing a tuxedo and bow tie, stood at the doorstep—he looked just like a butler from a rich household.

He spoke with a polite yet commanding tone, "I am here to inquire about Adam."

My grandmother, confused but polite, replied, "Yes, he lives here. What do you need from him?"

The man gave a slight bow and said, "I would like to speak with him regarding some important work."

"Adam, someone from your office is here!" my grandmother called out.

From where I was sitting, I could see the man clearly. I had never seen him before, but I instantly knew—he was not normal.

A sense of caution settled in. This isn't about work...

I didn't want to talk in front of my grandmother. I could sense something unnatural about him, something… powerful.

I quickly stood up and walked toward my grandmother. "Grandma, I've finished eating. Can you keep the plates in the kitchen? I'll wash them later," I said.

She sighed but nodded. "Alright."

I gestured to the man in the tuxedo to follow me into my room and shut the door behind us.

"Please, take a seat," I said, cautiously observing him.

The man gave a small smile and sat down gracefully. Then, he finally introduced himself.

"Greetings. I am Justin, butler to Mr. Hard—the S-rank vampire from Vampire State."

As I listened to him, my mind froze for a moment.

S-rank? Vampires?

Wait… Vampires from novels actually exist?

My thoughts raced. The man I had killed in the city was strong—stronger than any normal human—but I had assumed he just had a well-built physique. Even the man I interrogated before his death had spoken of his "boss" possessing supernatural powers, but I dismissed it at the time.

Now, everything was starting to make sense.

This world is so much bigger than I imagined.

I snapped out of my monologue and focused on Justin. "What do you need from me?"

Justin leaned forward slightly.

"It's simple," he began. "You are a natural-born awakened person, which is rare—especially in places like this, where spiritual energy is sparse."

His words made me pause. Natural-born awakened? So, my abilities weren't just from my experiments?

Justin continued, "Right now, we are at the border between the Vampire State and the Werewolf territories. Recently, we've detected werewolf activity in this town, and we came to investigate. But instead of just werewolves… we found you."

I narrowed my eyes. "And what does that mean for me?"

"You need to register as a spiritual being," Justin said simply. "It is mandatory for all awakened individuals. If you wish, I can escort you to the Vampire State, where you will be officially documented. Mr. Hard, the S-rank vampire, rules over that land. It is in your best interest to comply."

He placed a small card on my desk.

"When you are ready, contact this number. Someone will come to take you to the Vampire State for registration. We'll be waiting, Adam."

Without another word, Justin stood up, straightened his tuxedo, and left my room.

I followed him to the door and watched as he walked out of my house and disappeared into the distance.

As I stood at the doorway, my mind was buzzing with everything Justin had told me.

So… werewolves are already in town.

I clenched my fists. If they find out about me, things could get complicated. I don't care about the town, but… my grandmother is here.

I sighed and went to the sink, washing the breakfast dishes, trying to calm my thoughts.

Just as I finished, my grandmother came to me, her face looking a bit worried.

"Adam… I need to go visit my sister. She's ill, and her daughter-in-law is pregnant. I'll be staying there for a while."

I raised an eyebrow. "Grandma, why do you look so sad? It's just a visit, right?"

She hesitated. "But who will take care of you? You're still a child."

I exhaled sharply and shook my head. "Grandma, I'm not a child anymore."

She stared at me for a moment before sighing. "Alright… Take care of yourself, Adam. And don't do anything reckless."

I nodded. "Don't worry. Go take care of Grandma Ivy."

After seeing my grandmother off at the bus stop, I was left alone with my thoughts.

She had refused to let me accompany her, reassuring me that a car would pick her up in the city since Grandma Ivy was from a wealthy family.

This timing is… perfect.

With no distractions, I could now focus entirely on training.

After analyzing the Supreme Spirituality Codex, I estimated that I could reach the first layer in about 15 to 20 days. But there was a problem—my raw power was increasing too fast.

I had a deep understanding of human biology, and I knew that without control, my strength could easily destroy things around me.

I need to learn proper combat techniques.

Thus, I started researching martial arts dojos nearby. I needed a place that could help me adapt to my newfound strength.

After a long search, I finally found one—

Star Martial Arts Dojo.

It was relatively close to my village… but expensive.

Fortunately, I had money from my recent 'loot', so affording it wasn't an issue.

Without hesitation, I began the registration process.

I filled in my name, address, and reason for joining

For the reason, I simply wrote—"Self-defense".

Of course, that was just an excuse!
