Chapter 81 - Chapter 81: Little Lolita with a Knife Mouth and a Tofu Heart

"Peter, there are only two of us left now. I suddenly feel a little drunk. Why don't you take me home too?"

Rebecca looked at Peter, pretending to be intoxicated as she swayed slightly in her seat.

Peter smirked, finding her behavior amusing. Although Rebecca was known for being aggressive and hot-tempered, anyone observant enough would notice that her feisty attitude only surfaced when dealing with strangers. With friends or people she liked, she had a tough exterior but a soft heart—sharp-tongued but deeply caring.

"I didn't come here just to drink with you," Peter said, his tone casual.

Rebecca's face flushed slightly. For a second, it seemed like he was about to say something romantic, but then—

"I still have something to return to a friend," he added.

Rebecca pouted, her irritation evident. "Tch! Your friend also hanging out at the Ritz?"

Peter shook his head with a smile.

"No, she's actually a very talented editor of Mewtwo. You know, all my Mewtwo content is edited by her."

Rebecca raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Wait, all those high-quality Mewtwo clips you produce—she's the one behind them?"

"Of course. I record, and she edits everything," Peter replied matter-of-factly.

Rebecca's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "That's interesting. Can I come with you? I've never seen what a top-tier Mewtwo editor's studio looks like."

Peter hesitated. Judy was not the type to welcome strangers into her workspace, but when he glanced at Rebecca's expectant expression, he sighed.

"Let me call her first. If she says no, you'll have to wait for me at the bar," he said, pulling out his phone.

He dialed Judy's number. She answered after a few rings, her voice teasing.

"Peter? Wow, the big shot himself is calling me. To what do I owe this honor?"

Peter chuckled. "Big shot? Come on. I'm just here to keep a promise. Also, I have a little friend who wants to visit your studio. If you're not comfortable with it, she can wait for me at the bar."

"A little friend?" Judy mused. She was silent for a moment, then said, "If you think she's trustworthy, then fine. Bring her along."

"Great. I'll head over now." Peter ended the call and turned to Rebecca.

"Let's go. I'll introduce you to the most talented Mewtwo editor in Night City."

Peter walked ahead, but Rebecca didn't move. Instead, she grabbed his hand, causing him to stop in surprise.

"Don't you know that when a guy walks with a girl, he's supposed to hold her hand?" she asked, looking at him with a smug expression.

Peter raised an eyebrow. "That's a rule now?"

"It's my rule," Rebecca declared. "From now on, when we walk together, you have to hold my hand."

Peter was momentarily speechless. This little loli was unexpectedly bold, and her mischievous charm nearly made him dizzy.

Still, this was just like Rebecca—fierce, playful, and completely unpredictable.

Judy's Mewtwo Studio

"Wow! So this is Mewtwo Studio?"

Rebecca's excitement was palpable as she ran around, examining the equipment with wide-eyed curiosity. She poked at the high-tech devices, inspecting them like a kid in a candy store.

Peter chuckled at her enthusiasm before turning to Judy. He pulled out a sleek, polished pistol and held it out to her.

"Judy, this is Rebecca, a fellow merc like me. And, as promised, here's your Ritz pistol. I kept it safe for you. No scratches, no damage—just like you left it."

Judy took the gun from his hands and inspected it, a hint of relief flickering across her face.

"You've been making waves, Peter," she said with a sigh. "But you're also attracting a lot of trouble."

Peter shrugged. "Nothing I can't handle. I made a deal with someone, so don't worry about any boardroom politics. No matter what, I'll make sure you're safe."

Judy raised an eyebrow at that. "Safe, huh?"

Her fingers tightened slightly around the pistol. She wasn't used to people making promises like that. Normally, she didn't care about what happened to men—no matter how well she knew them. But Peter was different.

When she first gave him her favorite gun before his mission, it had felt like a farewell gift. After all, stealing from Arasaka was practically a death sentence.

And yet, not only had Peter returned alive, but he had also managed to kill Adam Smasher and bring her gun back in perfect condition.

She couldn't help but respect that.

Still, she wasn't about to let this moment turn sentimental. Clearing her throat, she changed the subject.

"Ahem, Peter, aren't you talking a little too much today? Didn't you just say you were here to return my gun? What's with all the extra conversation?"

Peter smirked. "What? Are you trying to kick me out already? I was hoping to chat a little more."

Judy waved him off. "I've got a ton of Mewtwo edits to finish. I'm swamped. Next time you drop by, I'll buy you a drink, okay?"

Peter chuckled, shaking his head. "Alright, alright. I get the hint. Rebecca, time to go—Judy's got work to do."

Rebecca, who had been busy messing with Judy's equipment, turned around in protest.

"What? Already? I just started playing with this!"

She was in the middle of checking out a high-tech Mewtwo device, which was running APEX, the latest game from Transcendence Studios. She had barely reached the game's main menu before Peter called her to leave.

She pouted. "Not fair!"

Judy laughed. "Relax, kid. If you like it that much, take it with you. Peter's rich now—he can afford it."

Rebecca's eyes lit up. "Really? I can keep it?"

"Sure, why not?" Judy said, amused.

But Rebecca suddenly frowned. "Hey! I'm not a kid! I'm fifteen! I'm practically an adult!"

Judy burst out laughing. "Okay, okay. You're not a kid. I'll call you Rebecca then. Take it—consider it a gift."

Rebecca grinned triumphantly. "Now that's more like it!"

Peter sighed. "Judy, you're just encouraging her bad habits."

Judy smirked. "Hey, if I have to deal with you, I might as well make it fun."

Peter rolled his eyes, but he couldn't help smiling.

"Alright, let's go, Rebecca. We've got other places to be."

Rebecca hugged her new gadget like a prized possession. "Fine, but you owe me another night of drinking!"

Peter laughed. "We'll see."

As the two of them left the studio, Judy watched them go with a thoughtful expression.

"Stay alive, Peter," she muttered under her breath, before turning back to her work.
