Chapter 79 - New Presence

Even with Gluttony's and Greed's A-rank strength, neither of them had noticed its presence. As long as no one deliberately directed "En" in his direction with high intensity, Worm could remain unnoticed. His mission was simple: observe. The performance of the Seven Deadly Sins in this battle would determine whether the Ten Dons would keep their promise to Pride later. This was just the first of many observations. Like Pride, the Ten Dons didn't believe Larry was as powerful as the rumors suggested, so they saw no harm in testing the waters first. Buried deep in the soil, Worm remained hidden, but he could still sense everything happening above. Listening to the conversation, he silently sighed. "It should be over soon. The difference in strength is too big."

Even though Greed and Gluttony had fallen from the sky, Worm wasn't too surprised. He quickly reasoned that their opponent likely had some kind of Nen ability that could drag flying objects down. But still, there was no doubt in his mind that both Greed and Gluttony were stronger than him. It was just a matter of how long the fight would last. "There's no movement from the Zoldyck family, right?" Gluttony asked, his eyes never leaving Larry.

Greed extended his "En" toward the Zoldyck estate in the distance, carefully sensing for any activity. After a moment, he spoke in a slow, measured tone. "No, it doesn't seem like this kid has made any deals with the Zoldycks. You can relax."

Larry's expression shifted slightly. He was surprised. Even from this distance, Greed could sense the Zoldyck estate? While his range probably only extended to the front gate, it was still an impressive feat. Having that much Nen at his disposal allowed Greed to use an exceptionally large "En" without worrying about energy consumption. But what caught Larry's attention was that Greed, as a Transmutation-type user, wasn't supposed to be skilled at "En," which was more of an Emission-type technique. Just like how Killua had once admitted that Transmutation-types weren't particularly suited for "En," Greed should have had a natural disadvantage. And yet, here he was, extending his range far beyond what most could achieve. That could only mean one thing—his aura reserves were absurdly vast. "Heh, so you or me?" Gluttony asked, casting a sidelong glance at Greed. His voice was low, rough, almost like a beast's growl.

Greed waved his hand, looking indifferent. "I'll handle it. If you go first, you might end up eating him in just a few bites." As soon as he finished speaking, a torrent of yellow aura erupted from Greed's body, surging out in waves. To Larry, it almost looked like a golden river had suddenly materialized before him. The sheer volume was overwhelming. But Larry wasn't fooled. He studied Greed carefully and quickly noticed something. As intimidating as it looked, Greed's aura felt hollow. It was vast, but it lacked weight—like a rootless weed floating on the water.

That was the downside of Greed's ability. His aura wasn't something he cultivated through hard training. Instead, it was energy he had taken from others, amassed through his Nen ability. This meant he had a massive reserve, but his control over it was limited. Because of this, Greed struggled with advanced Nen techniques like "Flow." He could only compensate by brute-forcing his way through battles, dumping aura all at once rather than refining his attacks. Even so, having that much energy put him at A-rank strength, making him a formidable opponent despite his lack of finesse.

Greed stared at Larry, confused by his calm demeanor. He knew he wasn't great at techniques like "Ken" or "Ryu," but in the end, did it really matter? His aura pool was so absurdly large that he could overpower enemies without needing refined control. For him, even a casual attack carried the same force as an opponent using "Ken" to gather over 50% of their Nen, or even "Ko," where they concentrated 100% of their energy into a single strike.

Meanwhile, Gluttony forcibly suppressed the urge to devour Larry on the spot. Her hunger gnawed at her, but she wanted to savor him slowly, piece by piece. It was an unspoken rule among The Seven Deadly Sins.

Lust and Pride had abilities that allowed them to control others, so Gluttony often left her prey in their hands. That way, she could return whenever she wanted and "sample" them. Eating them all at once would mean losing the chance to absorb their abilities later. Instead, she took her time, returning to Lust repeatedly for another bite. She would continue this process until she fully acquired the ability to use Nen. Her grotesque, inhuman hands stretched apart, and an iron net materialized in her grip. To her, Larry was nothing more than a helpless fish caught in her web.

Greed, on the other hand, gathered his mind energy, preparing to crush Larry with sheer force. Seeing this, Gluttony swung the iron net, attempting to capture him. Yet, Larry remained calm. Even the Blissey at his side didn't react.

To the outside world, it looked as if Larry and his Pokémon had given up, overwhelmed by the massive difference in power. That was exactly how The Shadow Beast, Worm, perceived the situation.

The overwhelming aura radiating from Greed and Gluttony made his body tremble uncontrollably. These two were among the most powerful Nen users he had ever encountered. "Are you scared to death?" he sneered, watching Larry's unmoving expression. "Pitiful. This is reality. The weak exist only to be slaughtered."

Larry, who had remained expressionless until now, suddenly smirked. "You're right. It really is a pity to be weak." His eyes glinted with amusement as he tilted his head. "And there are two poor souls standing right in front of me."

Greed opened his mouth to reply, but his words never came. His pupils dilated, his breath hitched, and his body trembled. Cold sweat dripped from his forehead, staining his expensive suit.

Gluttony was in an even worse state. Having absorbed the instincts of countless creatures, her sense of danger was more refined than Greed's. The sheer terror she felt struck her far more intensely. The iron net slipped from her grasp, hitting the ground with a sharp clang. Her mind screamed one thing. 'Run!' But her body wouldn't move.

The Shadow Beast, still hidden beneath the earth, felt it too. If Greed and Gluttony's presence had been enough to make him tremble, then these two new auras rendered him completely paralyzed. His teeth chattered, his body stiff with terror. He had no idea what was happening, but he instinctively knew—this was something far beyond his understanding.
