Luca's words boomed over the meadow; his grey eyes ablaze with wrath as he squared off the competing Alpha. The air was tense, the wolves on both sides observing closely from coiled like springs ready to break.
The competitor Alpha grinned, his golden eyes shining with hate. "Games"? This is no game, Luca, really. This represents a reckoning.
Luca said, "This is desperation," then stepped forward. "You will be destroyed if you grab at power, you will never be able to control."
"Perhaps," the competing Alpha said, his voice contemptuously quiet. Not until it first ruins you, however.
The pendant hung around my neck throbbed with light, its energy irregular and harsh. My chest tightened as I moved closer to Luca and felt the link quake with the weight of the conflict.
"You don't have to do this alone," I replied gently, my voice firm even within the tempest screaming inside me.
