Chapter 32 - 32 Evening snacks

Mother's eyes scanned the scene—waiters moving swiftly between tables, the kitchen working at full capacity, and her father and brother handling orders with an energy she hadn't seen in a long time. The place was alive, thriving in a way she hadn't expected.

This… this is our hotel?" she asked, as if she needed confirmation that what she was seeing was real.

Bani nodded, watching her mother's reaction closely.

"Look at them," her mother murmured, her voice filled with an awe Bani hadn't heard in a long time. "They're eating with such satisfaction… as if they don't want to leave."

She wiped her hands on her saree, a nervous habit, but this time, it wasn't from worry—it was from excitement.

Bani arrived at the family hotel today, accompanied by her mother. The next step in her journey required her mother's approval—without it, she couldn't move forward.

Her plans were ambitious. She wanted to acquire a vehicle, expand her farming efforts, and produce a larger quantity of vegetables and flowers. But before granting her consent, Bani's mother needed to see the progress of the hotel's revival. Only after witnessing the improvements firsthand would she decide whether Bani could proceed with her plans.

As they entered the hotel, the familiar scent of spices and freshly prepared dishes filled the air. The place, once struggling, now showed signs of new life. The tables were occupied, the kitchen bustling, and the staff moving with renewed energy. Yet, Bani knew her mother wouldn't be convinced by appearances alone. She needed proof that the business was truly stabilizing.

Bani watched her mother closely, her heart pounding. This decision wasn't just about her farm its also about their family —it was about securing a future for herself while ensuring her family wouldn't suffer. If her mother approved, it meant she could finally take a step toward true independence. If not, she would have to rethink everything.

After a long and exhausting day at the hotel, Bani's father carefully counted the day's earnings and placed them securely in his bag, ensuring everything was accounted for. Before locking up, the family took a final look around—tables wiped clean, the kitchen spotless, and chairs neatly arranged. As a gesture of appreciation, they handed out some extra money to the hardworking waiters and cooks, recognizing their dedication.

Stepping out into the cool evening air, they felt a sense of relief as they headed home. Along the way, Aman was drawn to the irresistible aroma of freshly fried snacks from a small shop. Unable to resist, he stopped to buy a selection of crispy masala vada, balakai bhajji, capsicum bajji, bonda, and mirchi bhajji—each golden, spicy, and still warm from the fryer. With the bag of treats in hand, he quickly rejoined his family, and together, they continued their walk home.

As soon as they arrived, everyone took a moment to freshen up, washing away the fatigue of the day. Meanwhile, in the kitchen, Bani and her mother worked side by side, brewing hot tea and coffee, their rich aroma filling the house. Soon, the family gathered in the living area, sipping their drinks and savoring the snacks Aman had brought. Laughter and lighthearted conversation flowed effortlessly, their shared warmth making the long day feel worthwhile.
