Chapter 3 - Trial Stage

Ting.

[You have killed a Black Wild Boar]

[You obtained Black Wild Boar's fangs.]

[You obtained Black Wild Boar's meat.]

[Inventory:

⇒ Black Wild Boar's fangs: 2

⇒ Black Wild Boar's meat: 20]

[Hunter Profession : Level up: #1]

[Sword Skill : Level up: #1]

Ash, lying face down from being slammed when the boar fell, was stunned when he read the message on the screen.

Fangs and meat? Did it mean he could also get items after killing? Both skills also increased.

He looked at the dead wild boar.

'Huh?'

The dead wild boar was no longer there. He looked left and right; the boar was completely gone.

'Could it be because the boar is an item I must get? Does that mean the definition of Hunter Skill is for hunting?' He felt both confused and curious.

He rose to his feet and patted the dust off his clothes. Then looked at himself who was still wearing shorts and a white T-shirt. His clothes were dirty, and he didn't have a change of clothes.

'Hmm. The important thing is that I get out of this game quickly.' he thought, then walked deeper into the forest.

But after walked for three hours, he still couldn't find the exit from the game.

And that was making him grew more frustrated with each step.

***

It rained.

Shhhhhh…

Shhh…

Ash took shelter under a tree, but he was already soaked. However, he kept walking, trying to find a way out of the game.

Then he saw a cave not far ahead.

"Should I take shelter in the cave or keep looking for an exit?" he wondered, feeling all his body soaked and cold.

With hesitation, he looked up at the sky, it was starting to get dark.

So, he decided to take shelter and spend the night in the cave.

When he entered, the cave was a bit dark. His body shaking slightly from the cold as he sat against the cave wall.

The cave was dry and quite deep, so the light from outside couldn't reach all parts of it.

Ash stood up and walked along the cave wall. Then his foot kicked something. He picked it up and tried to see what it was in the dark

It was a matchbox!

Ting.

[You have found a matchbox.]

[Item Rank: Regular item.]

[Would you store the item in the inventory?]

[Y/N]

Gosh, if he didn't remember he was inside the Finding Objects game, he would feel strange because he found random items. Then he chosed N.

'Hmm... I can make a campfire if I have firewood.'

He walked further into the cave until finally, his foot kicked something again. He couldn't see what he found, so he picked it up and waited to see if the notification would ring again.

Ting.

Sure enough, soon the sound echoed in his ears, and the glowing screen appeared in front of him.

[You have found a bunch of firewood.]

[Item Rank : Regular item.]

[Would you store the item in the inventory?]

[Y/N]

"Yes, I can make a campfire," he said happily while pressed N.

Then he arranged the wood and tried to light the campfire.

"Yes!" he exclaimed with excitement as the bonfire was lit. Now he could see the inside of the cave by the light of the campfire. The warmth of the fire made him feel a little more at ease.

The cave turned out to contain items scattered everywhere, similar to a hidden objects game.

Ash ruffled his wet hair and thought, "If my guess is correct, maybe I can find dry clothes or at least a towel."

So, he began searching for clothes or towels among the items.

Ting.

[You have found a rubber duck.]

[Item Rank: Regular item.]

[Y/N]

He subconsciously pressed N and continued searching for the items he needed.

Ting.

[You have found a glove.]

[Item Rank : Regular item.]

[Would you store the item in the inventory?]

[Y/N]

He pressed N again and continued his search.

Ting.

[You have found an umbrella.]

[Item Rank : Regular item.]

[Would you store the item in the inventory?]

[Y/N]

Impatiently, he pressed N in annoyance and continued his search. But he stopped midway.

Suspicious, he picked up a hat.

Ting.

[You have found a top hat.]

[Item Rank : Regular item.]

[Would you store the item in the inventory?]

[Y/N]

"Arrrrghhh, this is so annoying! Why does the notification ring every time I touch something?!" he shouted in frustration.

He stopped messing with the items randomly and started to think. Slowly he picked up an umbrella and waited to see if the notification would sound. But it didn't.

"Oho, so if there was a notification earlier, it won't ring again," he muttered, nodding with understanding.

Using the umbrella, he began to search through the piled-up items. Finally, he found a shirt, trousers, boxers, and a towel.

Even though each item triggered a notification sound, Ash didn't mind because these were the items he needed. With a satisfied expression, he put on the dry clothes and dried his hair, feeling much better.

Before long, his stomach growled. He remembered he had the wild boar meat from earlier in his inventory, but he wasn't sure how to get it out.

'Hmmm... If I'm in a game, I can just click on it,' he thought.

'Or maybe like in novels he read?' And he tried to say, "Inventory."

Ting.

[Inventory:

⇒ Black Wild Boar's fangs: 2

⇒ Black Wild Boar's meat: 20]

'Nice. It's very convenient,' With a smile, he pressed the Black Wild Boar's meat in his inventory.

Ting.

[Would you like to take out Black Wild Boar's meat from your inventory?]

[Y/N]

He now grinned and confidently pressed Y.

Suddenly, a large piece of meat appeared in front of him. His grin grew even bigger as he caught the meat with his hands.

But how would he cook it? There was only one way—to search through the pile of junk for the items he needed.

So, he turned towards the pile of things with a tired expression.

***

Ash ate until he was full. With a satisfied smile, he lifted a soda can and took a sip, then looked at the items he managed to retrieve after thoroughly rummaging through those objects in the cave.

Now he had several drink cans, a mattress, a blanket, a pillow, some snacks and bread, a knife, a grill, and more.

'This isn't bad,' he thought.

He could comfortably spend the night here while waiting for the rain to stop.

After laying out the mattress and lying down, he tried to remember everything in the game that he could try to summon, besides Inventory.

"System," he said.
