Chapter 32 - The Vision is Still the Same

Kyrhen's POV

Kyrhen's pants were found outside the stable, and he had no memory of how they ended up there. He quickly put them back on because having his manhood out in front of his twin was uncomfortable for both he, and Kalysta.

Once dressed Kyrhen looked at the group, and with a deep sigh, his eyes focused on his feet instead of their faces. Making eye contact with his sister was nearly impossible for him. She seemed to tower over him with her new elevated status, and he was intimidated. He wanted to show that he had a shred of pride left, but despite his efforts he could not lift his chin up.

"Kyrhen, look at me." Kalysta demanded his full attention. She spoke sharply in his direction which caused many emotions to roll through his body all at once.

Anger!

Depression!

Sadness!

Anxiety!

Fear...

When he looked up his body shook slightly as his stomach turned sour. Fresh bile rose up into his throat but he swallowed it back down. When his eyes met her silver stare a tear escaped.

The small droplet slide down his face and as it fell Kyrhen collapsed down to his knees. He hated that he still loved his sister. Shame and guilt ransacked his body.

"I'm sorry Kalysta!" His hands flew to his eyes as he sobbed, and he began to ramble out apology after apology. "I'm sorry that I never listened about David. I'm sorry about what he did to you. I'm sorry for being jealous of you."

He continued to cry while she looked down her nose at him on his knees. She wanted to hate him. He was going to end up betraying her again. She could feel it deep down in her gut, but no matter what her instinct told her, he is still her brother, and she loves him too much to let him continue to crumble into pieces.

Her heart ached deeply. He had done so much to wrong her, and paranoia plagued her as she continued to visualize him driving a knife into her back. Forgiveness, it seems, will take time. The trust between them has been demolished misdeeds and envy.

"I'm sorry!"

"I'm sorry!"

"I'm sorry Kalysta!"

She kneeled down in front of him. His breath reeked of stale alcohol and emesis as he continued to cry out those words. Ignoring the scent she grabbed his jaw with her hand and tilted his head up so she could see him clearly to speak. "Kyrhen, we have got to figure out how to forgive each other other. We need to move past this or we will continue to drift apart. I don't want to have to fight you someday. I don't want us to be on opposite sides of the coin. I don't want to hate you..."

"What have you done that I need to forgive you for?" He asked, feeling curious about why she said they both need to forgive each other. As far as Kyrhen knew he was the only one who was constantly fucking up. He couldn't fathom why she said that.

"I never tried to look at things from your perspective to try to understand how you were feeling. I didn't forgive you easily when you were vulnerable and needed it the most, and I cast a shadow over you that you couldn't escape. All I ever wanted was for my twin to be my best friend; not someone else's. So I always tried to excel at everything I did to get our families attention to make up for the fact that I never got yours." Now it was Kalysta who seemed to have a hard time making eye contact.

Jakob and Kyrhen looked at her as she confessed her side of things. They were wholly interested in what she had to say, while Adrian stood to the side kicking a rock.

Kalysta looked up, and pulled Kyrhen into a hug. Jakob spoke up then, "Trust has to be earned back. It is not given freely to you anymore, but I am glad to see you two are trying to get along. We will need all the help we can get soon enough."

Adrian huffed. "Are we going to do family therapy all damn night or are we gonna get back to Tiny and start planning? We found the her brother, now let's go."

"What are you all planning," Kyrhen stood up and asked?

"You won't like it. You've always looked to the city with interest, but the CEO is not a good man. Too many vile things happen there like drugs, pollution, child labor and trafficking. He is corrupt," Kalysta explained.

"You forgot massive amounts of murders." Jakob added.

"He also likes to rape women in front of their husbands and children." When Adrian said this it got everyone's attention. He looked away from them. Discussing how he knew that information brought up too many painful memories. Luckily they sensed his reluctance to explain and left the statement alone.

Jakob said, "Let's get back to Tiny."

"Is that like a dog or something," Kyrhen asked? The question caused the others to laugh. Adrian light-heartedly replied, "No sir. Tiny is my brother. We were about to plan a revolution, but we had to track you down first."

"Oh well crap," Kyrhen said, "let's go do rebellious stuff."

They started walking back.

Kyrhen thought about everything that had happened. His heart didn't mourn over David anymore, and the anger he had been harboring had began to dissipate, however, he wasn't sold on the idea of taking on the city.

In his mind it is ridiculous to even try. If anything, Kyrhen still wanted to go make his way up the corporate ladder and into Jasin Saline's good graces. He actually admired the man. He refused to think the man was all that bad. Shady? Yeah, but not evil.

Wealth has always been his Kyrhen's goal. With David no longer distracting him he was determined to make it big.

Even with a newfound peace between the twins he couldn't help but to still feel her shadow looking over him. No doubt that shadow cannot reach the top of a pent house. Everyone would be so proud of him.

He bet that even Miller would be impressed. Kyrhen could work his way up in that society and pay back all of the money he took with added interest. If he did that Miller would have no choice but to acknowledge his accomplishments. He could say that it wasn't a theft, but an investment!

A small smile formed on his lips, then he heard the voice of his sister. "Are you happy that we ended the feud?"

"Yeah," he said. "I feel peaceful now."

Maybe he felt peace a moment ago when they hugged but now he feels something else; money hungry!

Kyrhen can use this little rebellion as a way to suck up to the CEO. Jasin Saline will have no choice but to employ Kyrhen if he sells valuable info to him. What better information to have than to have an insider get dirt on the people who opposed you?

In his mind Kyrhen thought about how he would spy on this group and gather evidence to provide to Saline his worth. Kalysta thought he was grinning because they made up, but in reality he was excited about the future he was quietly planning for himself.

He could see it now...

A nice home with a huge bed. Of course he would take a different lover to that bed each night of the week; after David he won't let himself feel affection for anyone again, but hey, a man has needs.

He could fill a bathtub with green dollar bills and soak in his wealth. Kyrhen could almost feel all of those paper bills against his skin, or he could hire a bunch of people to do whatever he wants.

Kyrhen despises doing dishes so he has to remember to get a maid. Oh and a chef!!! So many options are out there. He could hire anyone for literally anything.

Kalysta is smart. She wants to trust him but he knows she doesn't yet. He will just have to pretend to be a changed man. Manipulating her should be easy, but he will have to tread lightly around Jakob.

Jake will most likely be his biggest obstacle. He isn't sure if Adrian is linked or not, and Kyrhen is too proud to be fearful of a guy called Tiny. With a name like that how dangerous can the guy be?

It's decided then..... Kyrhen is going to play nice with this group of rejects until he can leave them to move on to bigger, and better things.

~Meanwhile~

Kalysta felt relieved to have found Kyrhen again, but she couldn't shake the feeling that something was still wrong.

Her vision suddenly clouded, and when she tried to focus them again all she could see was black. Her toes felt cold and wet.

Her heart thudded in her chest rapidly as she realized she was back in the vision she had before. She eagerly rushed to feel for the wall; instead she immediately reached out and touched the door. Her fingers fumbled to turn the knob as anxiety welled up from deep within her soul. Once through the door she ran and ran and ran until she was back in the bright white room.

She looked into the room as the vision of Kyrhen slicing open Jakob's neck replayed in front of her again. Nothing had changed yet. She is going to have to do her best to win her brother over or she will have to kill him in the end after all. She can't let Jakob die, especially since she hasn't had a period since the night they first slept together.
