Chapter 69 - chapter 69

"Did you see that? He seemed to want to take on eight of us by himself?"

Abraxas said jokingly, his words causing laughter from the group behind him.

"Hahaha! He might not be awake yet."

"Hey, little brother, you can't even cast a glow charm yet?"

"Luminescent Charm? I guess he hasn't even opened the textbook yet."

Facing the laughter from the opposite side, Tom's face grew gloomy, and he gripped his wand even tighter.

"Abu, there's only a freshman on the opposite side, why don't you try it yourself first?" a senior student said.

"Yes, sure." Abraxas did not refuse.

He might be afraid of Robert, but he was not afraid of Tom at all! Although many pure-blood families were now in decline, some still held great power.

The Malfoy family was one of them. As the youngest male in the Malfoy family, his family had high expectations of him. Therefore, when he was at home, he had already taught himself a lot of magic.

In this regard, children from pure-blood families had a great advantage over children of Muggle origin.

Abraxas was afraid of Robert because Robert mastered the "illusion magic" that he could not deal with.

As for Tom, his sense of superiority as a descendant of a pure-blood family resurfaced. In addition, with the support of senior students behind him, even if Tom knew about the kind of magic that confuses people, someone could help him escape it.

Abraxas stood in front of Tom, holding a black wand in his hand.

"Abu, do you remember the evil spell I taught you yesterday? Let me see if you have mastered it," the senior student said again.

"Good."

Tom looked at Abraxas and felt a little nervous. After all, since he first encountered magic, he had only fought Robert. Yesterday, on the train, he wanted to test the abilities of this group, but failed because Robert's methods were too sophisticated.

Not knowing the abilities of the opponents, Tom had always heard that pure-blood families had great backgrounds, with access to many precious magical knowledge.

Taking all factors into account, Tom was extremely alert when facing Abraxas. At this moment, in his mind, the true strength of these pure-blood family members might be on par with Robert.

As for why Robert didn't suffer any losses yesterday, perhaps it was because he used confusing magic to sneak attack his opponents.

Abraxas couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief when he saw Tom's slightly nervous face. Since the other party seemed so nervous about him, it proved that he had definitely not learned Robert's magic to confuse people. There was nothing to fear!

Abraxas took the lead.

"Hot and sizzling!"

"Whoosh!"

An evil curse shot directly at Tom's face! Although Tom was a little nervous, he was already prepared. Seeing the curse coming, he quickly waved his wand and whispered the spell.

This was a trick Robert had taught him. When you haven't fully mastered the silent casting of a spell, try to chant it quietly. As long as others can't hear it, it will still have the surprise effect of the silent spell. As long as you stay focused when casting, the spell's power won't be weakened.

"Armor protects you!"

Tom had not yet mastered the full Armor Spell and couldn't protect his body entirely like Robert. However, he could create a small barrier for a short time. It was enough to deal with the current situation.

Tom's incomplete Armor Charm blocked Abraxas's Knot Curse! This made Abraxas and his group feel a little stunned. Though they couldn't clearly hear what spell the freshman used, he actually blocked Abraxas's curse!

Seeing this, Abraxas realized that the other side was not a rookie who knew nothing, so he put away his contempt and began casting more curses.

"Hot and sizzling!"

Evil curses flew at Tom, who continued to use his incomplete Armor Charm to block them. The sound of curses hitting the armor continued.

Tom was confused. Something didn't seem right. Why was this pure-blood wizard so weak?

Even though it seemed like Tom was being attacked without a chance to counter, in reality, the dozen or so curses from Abraxas couldn't break through Tom's defenses. Tom wasn't putting much effort into resisting!

Something was off. Was Abraxas letting him off?

But when Tom looked at Abraxas's fierce expression, it didn't seem like he was giving mercy.

If it had been Robert, Tom's arms would have ached from the shock of just one of his spells!

Tom soon realized that it wasn't that he was weak. It was that Robert's attacks were too powerful.

Abraxas's attacks were simply a tickle by comparison. Realizing this, Tom decided to take a risk. This time, he didn't use the Shield Spell to block Abraxas's curse, but rather used the simplest counter method.

"Thump!"

Abraxas's curse was deflected easily by Tom with the tip of his wand.

Tom now realized that it wasn't that the other side was being modest, but that their magic was genuinely weak!

Without any hesitation, Tom quickly used the simplest spell-breaking method to deflect several more of Abraxas's evil spells.

As Abraxas continued to wave his wand...

"Expelliarmus!"

"Whoosh!"

Abraxas's wand flew out of his hand!

Tom's wand drew a beautiful arc through the air.

"Hanging bell!"

The evil curse, which Robert had borrowed from future Snape, directly struck Abraxas, who had not yet recovered from the shock of losing his wand.

"Thump!"

"Ouch!"

Before Abraxas could react, he was already hanging upside down in the air!

Tom deftly took Abraxas's disarmed wand and threw it aside. The look in Tom's eyes shifted from nervousness to full confidence.

If the strength of the group was similar to Abraxas, Tom felt confident that he could handle ten of them!

It was then that Tom truly realized his own strength. Seeing Abraxas, who was still struggling in the air, filled him with joy.

Tom was happy not because he won, but because he realized that he wasn't as weak as he had thought!

It wasn't because he was weak; it was because Robert was simply too strong.

"How is that possible!" someone exclaimed from the other side.

The rest of the group realized they had underestimated the freshman. One of the senior students aimed his wand at Abraxas.

"Stop the curse immediately!"

But Abraxas remained hanging upside down. The spell wasn't completely ineffective, but it took so long to work that Abraxas stayed suspended.

When Tom saw this, he couldn't help but admire Robert's magical prowess.

The three senior students saw the spell wasn't working and turned their focus on Tom.

"Enough, put him down!" one said angrily.

Tom stared coldly. "Why didn't you say enough when he was attacking me?" he retorted. "If I didn't have some ability, what would have happened if all those curses had hit me? Compared to his cruelty, I'm just letting him calm down in the air."

"I said, enough, didn't you hear me?" the senior student growled, clearly angered by Tom's defiance.

Tom glanced at the student's pimply, asymmetrical face, remembering Robert's description of pure-blood families. Robert once said that if you see a wizard with a weird appearance, it's likely because they practice too much dark magic or come from a family that marries close relatives, which can cause strange physical traits.

Tom still remembered how Robert warned him to take care of his nose. That comment had made him laugh.

"I won't let him go," Tom said calmly. "I don't need another enemy."

The senior students began to pull out their wands, and the situation became tense. Tom understood that it was now about survival. He couldn't waste time; the fight had to end quickly.

"Super fluorescent flash!"

A blinding light burst from Tom's wand.

"Ah! My eyes!"

The group was momentarily blinded, giving Tom the opportunity to counterattack. The rest of the fight unfolded with Tom's magic quickly overwhelming his opponents.

"Expelliarmus!" He disarmed one, and with a swift series of spells, he reduced the group to two.

However, Tom soon found himself in a dire situation, having to defend against multiple threats.

It was then that Robert's voice echoed from behind him.

"Oh! Tom, you've really made something of yourself!"
