Before Raul could even respond, Ulva let out another pained sound and practically collapsed into Marrok's arms.
He caught her effortlessly, his hands steady, his expression tightening as she buried her face into his chest, her body trembling slightly.
Raul took a step back, watching with growing exasperation as Ulva clung to Marrok as if her very life depended on it. Her theatrics might have convinced someone else, but Raul wasn't buying it, and his patience was wearing thin. He had seen Ulva endure far worse without so much as a flinch. This display was unnecessary, and though irritation prickled at him, he held his tongue, unwilling to make a scene.
Marrok ran his hands over her arms, steadying her. His voice was softer this time, but no less urgent. "Ulva, what happened? Who did this to you?" His concern was palpable, his golden eyes flickering with a mix of fear and anger.
Then his gaze snapped up to Raul, demanding answers.
