Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 - Morning drill

>7:40 PM<

Adrian closed the door behind him as he entered his room, he removed his uniform and took a quick bath, then he changed into some comfortable cloths he found in the wardrobe, "Hah, now, let's see what you can do, cyberdeck," Adrian stretched his hands, and sat down on the chair facing the cyberdeck.

He pressed one of the buttons and the whole thing lit up, it showed his Information, then other words began to appear on the screen...

>>>Cadets profile: Cadets personal information, essential for tracking progress and stats...

>>Database : Access a vast repository information on tactics, techs, and more...

>>Shop : Convinent for acquiring gears, materials, gadgets and more...

>>Messages : Send and receive communication with other cadets, instructors, Etc...

>>AA Missions (LOCKED): Access and manage your active assignment and missions...

>>Training hub : A central location for accessing training manuals and exercise...

>>News feed : Stay updated on academy news, mission briefings and important announcements...

....

Adrian read through all the options, already getting a general knowledge of what they do, he stared at the cyberdeck, contemplating what he should proceed with first, he also noticed the locked options, 'It's probably locked because we're new cadets,' Adrian had a valid thought.

He really wanted to check everything out, but he knew they was no use right now, he has to see what the academy has in store for him before he plans ahead, so he turned off the cyberdeck. Adrian checked his watch for tomorrow's schedule.

>>MORNING DRILL : 6:00 AM<<

He set the alarm for, 5:40 AM, then he rest his head on the soft pillow, the bed was the softest thing he had ever lied on, he stared at the ceiling for a few minutes before closing his eyes, letting Slumber's sweet embrace, take over him.

*BEEP BEEP!

Adrian slowly removed the sheets that covered him, he stretched before leaving the bed, he immediately took a shower, changed into his training suit, a black long sleeve, same colour with the pants, red lines ran along the suit, his black boots fitted his leg perfectly.

He opened the door and stepped out, walking through the hallway, his steps echoing through the place, most of the cadets weren't even awake, he only saw a few of them heading out, he reached Dave's door and noticed that he was still in, "Should I knock? Nah, he'll meet me there." Adrian decided to go to the training area first.

After following the instructions his map gave him, he appeared in front of a small forest, Adrian looked around, noticing that no one was here yet, "Uhm, is this the right place..." Adrian muttered as he tapped the watch, the map showed him that he was in the right location, so he decided to wait and see.

A few moments later, the place began to fill up as the cadets started arriving, Adrian turned around and saw Dave approaching him, "You came early?" Dave questioned.

"Yeah, just a few minutes ago!" Adrian replied, the next instant, the space before the cadets shifted as sparks appeared, two figure appeared after the sparks settled, one of them was instructor Ryker, his silver uniform letting out a small sheen, "Morning cadets, I'm instructor Hazy" the person beside him said, she also wore the same silver uniform, her hair tied into a bun as she wore a small smile.

"For today's drill, you all would have to go through the forest and climb the mountain, on the top, you'll find a beam of light, touch it and you've completed the drill." instructor Ryker's stern voice reached their ears.

The cadets looked at the path ahead of them, this is no drill, it's just a walk in the park. With their abilities, they'll easily reach the mountain and back within minutes. Most of the cadets had the same thought.

Instructor Hazy raised her hands, a slight Shockwave spread through the earth, then the sky took a slight shade of grey, all the way to the mountain range.

"This is a null zone, you won't be able to access your aether reserves while in this area, which means you can't use your ability." instructor Hazy stated, the smile on her face got wider as she noticed the cadets expressions.

Shock!

Without aether? How would they make it there in just 2 hours, after the shocking statement, the cadets realized that the distance wasn't as short as they imagined, and the mountains seemed to grow bigger to.

"You have three hours to reach the beam, if you fail to reach the beam before the time runs out, you'll be punished accordingly. Am I understood?!" instructor Ryker explained.

"Sir yes sir!" all the cadets exclaimed, it wasn't going to be an easy drill at all!

Adrian slightly shifted in his position, he knew that it wouldn't be easy, but finding out that the others won't be able to use their abilities reduced his nervousness.

A holographic count down appeared in the sky, 00:09, it kept on ticking till it reached zero, prompting all the cadets to spring into action, and with that the first cadets drill begins!

Adrian jogged through the forest, his eyes darting across the tress as he picked his path, Dave was already a spec in the distance.

"I have to watch my stamina, can't get exhausted before I even reach the mountain range.." Adrian made a mental note to pace himself, after a few minuets of jogging, he slowly increased his speed, other cadets around also seemed to be maintaining their speed as they moved.

Adrian skidded to a stop, his eyes widened as he gazed at the large expanse of mud before him, it was a large muddy area, and from the looks of it, the muds would be deep.

Adrian let out a small sigh as he took a step, his leg sank into it, the mud reaching his sheen, he moved through the place, the next step harder than the first, bead of sweats appeared in his face as he kept on marching through.

The muddy area had a range of 20 meters, and Adrian already crossed 13 meters, his pushed on, not letting the mud slow him down.

He finally passed the muddy area, he increased his speed as he sprinted towards the mountain, the area here had less trees, but the terrain was rocky, so he made sure to watch his steps as he moved, most of the cadets were ahead of him, but he didn't bother about it.

"Damn it!" Adrian cursed, his leg buckling beneath him as he crashed onto the unforgiving rocky floor. A sharp sting shot through his palms, but he gritted his teeth and sprang back to his feet. No time to waste. He had to keep moving.
