That sounds like Lucian has kicked me out or refused to let me
in, but that couldn't be further from the truth since he's the one leading me by the hand away from it.
"Lucian, what are—"
"No questions," he interrupts me as he continues to lead us through the forest.
"What about the bag? Can I ask about that?" I ask, my eyes going to the rucksack he has on his back.
"You mean the one that smells like it has food in it?" he asks innocently. I try not to smile. "You're being deliberately vague."
"Am I?"
When he turns around, and I see the wideness of his smile, my guilt returns. "Lucian, about yesterday. I—"
"Have nothing to apologize for. I told you it was fine. And if you had any idea how badly I've been sleeping without you beside me, you'd be apologizing for that instead of for doing something that should mean my sleep is better, not worse."
