Nolan has most other women, Ivy included, split between three dormitory-style rooms that house about twenty women each. All are on the third floor of this five-story wooden house deep in the mountains, and I go there in the morning and evening to shower and brush my teeth.
Ivy told me that when a woman is about to be mated, Nolan will move her out of the dormitory and into her own room. I didn't understand why the woman didn't just move straight from the dorm room to the one she'd share with her new mate. But before she could tell me any more, one of Nolan's enforcers appeared at the door, and we had to focus on our work.
It wasn't until I scrubbed the floors after one meal that I heard a woman weeping a few feet away. Although I tried to speak to her, to ask what was wrong and if there was anything I could do to help her, nothing I said had any effect.
