Shuffle

A young woman in a lilac pressed shirt and a black fedora, shuffling a few card decks on a wide table that seemed to never end in the small dark room, sitting under a very dim light. She shuffled in silence for a moment, before pausing abruptly, slowly looking up.

"You must be real bold to try making a deal with someone like me, y'know?" She teased in a soft voice, making the atmosphere almost non existent when she spoke. Then she threw the cards into the air, scattering them around with no care, before they all came to a slow stop, with only her and her guest moving normally.

"Don't you worry kid, when you're almost as powerful as one of my cards here you can do LOADS of stuff, a lot more than what you can do already!" She exclaimed in a tone too enthusiastic to be considered real.

Suddenly a chair moved forward, pushing her guest on it, moving more towards the table under the light, revealing a young boy who looked nothing more than five. With light grey skin and jet-black hair, he looked scared more than anything.

"Don't bother talking, cause you can't. Now pick a card. But if you want to make this deal work to its best, you'll have to pick the joker." She pointed up at the cards that were still stopped in time, but none of them faced him.

"I always have five card decks with me, that makes it two hundred and five cards. I made it so only one of them has a joker, my trump card. Any other card and well...." She let off with a malicious grin.

The boy sat still, releasing the breath he didn't know he was holding in. He closed his eyes and waved his hand around, passing through many cards, having many feelings as he went through them.

Anger, grief, distrust, hate, sorrow, fear....

These emotions circled around with each card he touched, all being a trait that won't be associated with her...until.

Chaos.

The only one he hadn't felt among the others. He quickly grabbed it with confidence, slowly opening his eyes to see....A King of Clovers.

A chocking silence filled the room, all the scards coming down harshly stacking themselves on the table, before she revealed the Joker card in her hand.

"Of all my cards....you picked the only one, that means doom! Do you have any idea how bad this is for you...but for me?! Oh ho this is gonna be such a good time for me!" She rejoiced, slamming the joker down, activating a spell that completely broke the space into nothing.

Among the madness, he tried to escape, but couldn't move. Taking in a deep breath, she looked at him before disappearing into nothing.

"Don't worry...I never forgot about you."
