Layla's pov.
I've trained really hard and at first I wasn't finding it easy. It was really tough before I began to get the hang of things.
Well about Logan, he's such a flirt. I just can't understand why my emotions are always out of my control. My face turns red and I begin to blush at his little actions, sometimes I can hear my heart pounding hard in my ribcage like it's going to burst outta my chest.
Honestly I'm not sure I can hold on any longer. His presence makes have an unexplainable feeling. It may be the mate thing he once told me about.
Well I currently on my bed still daydreaming of my Logan and I. My phone chimes making me realize that I hadn't been on my phone since today.
It was a message from Betty. Yeah Betty my college friend or I could say coursemate.
"Layla, haven't heard from you in a while. What's up? Ain't showing up at school no more?"
Oh Betty! Bombarding me with questions. I don't know where to even start from.
"Hey Betty. I'm sorry I haven't reached out. I actually moved out of my hostel and I'm staying with a relative." I texted back. Wait relative? Logan... relative? Since when? Whatever.
"So you quit school?"
"No, I didn't. The distance is quite much but long story short I didn't quit school. You'll be seeing me during exams or tests. You don't have to bother about my lectures, I have it all figured out."
Figured out indeed if only she knew.
"Alright. Just wanted to know if you were alright. Stay safe though."
"Huh. I'm definitely safe. Why make such statements?"
"Well it's nothing. Just that a bunch of handsome but fierce looking men came to our school two days ago. They said they were looking for someone named Irene." Betty dropped the bomb shell. What!!! My biological mother named me Irene. Could it be me that they are looking for? I need to inform Logan.
"Oh Okay...um yeah take care." I sent the message. I couldn't bother wait for a reply before dashing out of my room.
"Logan!" I shouted before I turned the knob to his study.
"Darling is there a problem? You sound and look troubled." Logan said. He is on his swivel chair staring up at me with some documents in his hands.
"I think there's a problem. No no I don't think there is a problem but there is actually a big problem." I am currently sweating and feeling worked up.
"Honey calm down and speak to me. What got you troubled?" He sounded so calm and composed. I know feel like the crazy one. Catching my breath and doing the breathing technique, I began explaining what I had learned from Betty.
"So the demons came to you school looking for you. From the angle of the situation I'm guessing someone must have told them you attended there." Now what's he is saying seems to make sense but my brain is refusing to corporate with me, so I can't decipher what he just said.
"Huh. You mean...wait who would even do such and for what reason?"
"Let me explain it properly. If they could track you so easily then they would have found you already not going to your school when you had already left there a long time ago. So someone must have given them you whereabouts. It's a good thing I found you first."
"Wow! Just wow! Could it be my foster family?" I feel like I connected the dots perfectly.
"Well it could be them. If not then who else?"
"But how did they find them?" I am really puzzled right now.
"That's a question for another day. You said they came two days ago? I'm guessing they haven't found any leads. Now I want you to ensure that your bracelet never comes off, okay?"
"Y-yeah sure." I stuttered.
"You don't have to be scared of anything. You have me with you and no harm will come close to you under my watch." He tried to assure her.
"Just trust and have faith in me." He added.
"Okay. I do believe you."
If only we knew it was only a matter of time for things to go bonkers. For death to be knocking on the door. A cruel fate indeed.
Going back to my room even though Logan had asked me to stay, I just needed to clear my head. I was having too many thoughts and I was getting a migraine. Just a nap and everything will be alright.
*********Two days ago**********
The Christopher family.
Just like every regular morning they were having breakfast then a rough banging was heard on the door. It was as though the door was going to come of it's hinges completely.
"Hey! Who the hell that at the door. Christen go check who that untamed dog is." Charles hollered at his wife who was still in the kitchen trying to serve breakfast.
"Sure thing honey! Just a sec..." Before she could complete her sentence the harsh banging came again completely shaking the door. Charles could feel the impact home the dining table.
"Just go get the damn door before this house crumbles down!" He shouted back at his wife.
No response. Christen comes out sweating like she had just run a marathon.
"Who's there?" No response. She had no other choice than to turn the door to find three handsome men staring back at her. Unfortunately these men weren't friendly at all.
They all forced their way inside before one of them asked.
"Where is she?"
"Your adopted daughter." Another chimed in.
"Huh...um we only have one daughter with us here." Charles said standing up and walking towards the unwelcomed guests .
"Oh really? I'd like to see her."
"For what reason do you think I'd let you see my precious little daughter?" This time was Christen putting up the protective mother font.
"Unless you want her dead keep delaying." Without further ado or hesitation Christen calls out her daughter's name.
"Jessie! Jessie! Get down here right now." Charles screamed at the top of his lungs.
It took a few minutes for her to get down and when she did the men's expressions darkens.
"Do you all want to become corpses? Where is your daughter? You have another daughter WHERE IS SHE!" Oh boy he's patience was quickly evaporating.
"Um...oh I see. So you mean that unfillial girl? Well we've disowned her. Well she's...what was the name of the place again honey." Christen joyfully asks her husband. Good thing they weren't there for her daughter.
"Um...Zaorah city. Yes that's the place. A college over there. There only one prestigious one there although I can't remember the name. Once you get there just ask around." Charles said not minding the fact that he just sold her out to her enemies.
Without any more words they stormed out of the house causing the small family breathe a sigh of relief.
