Maddison watched Azrael closely as he retreated into his own mind once again.
Maddison wanted to ask Azrael what he was thinking about, but she felt like he was only going to push her away again if she did that.
It was obvious that Azrael still didn't fully trust her.
He was willing to allow her to know the things he was doing, but he was never completely open with her. Azrael held his cards so close to his chest that Maddison could never get through them.
Finally, after a while, Maddison felt her curiosity get the better of her, and she asked.
"Why do you want to know about Harold Sabastine?"
Maddison watched Azrael as he glanced at her for a moment.
Azrael had this dangerous glint in his eyes, like a predator sharpening its fangs.
Maddison knew that look.
She had seen it on his face once before, back when she told him about the investigator, Romanov.
At that moment, Maddison was able to immediately decipher what it was that Azrael was planning.
