Calvin's sharp exhalation echoed in the hallway, his body tense as he stepped back from me, running his hand through his hair. The tension in his body was palpable, and if I knew anything about Calvin Kingsley, it was the knowledge that he only looked this distressed when things were about to spiral out of control.
I stepped forward. "Calvin," I repeated, more firmly. "What is it?"
For a moment, I thought he wouldn't answer. His jaw clenched, and his eyes focused on the floor as if choosing his options. Then, finally he breathed roughly and looked at me.
"It's the Handerson deal," he finally said. "James Henderson's office called. He's having second thoughts."
My stomach tightened. The Handerson contract was one of the biggest projects NovaTech had in the works. One I had spent weeks working on. Losing it would be catastrophic.
My brow furrowed as I thought about it "Considering? Why?"
