Kai stepped out of the room, his thoughts still lingering on his conversation with Song Yue. As he descended the grand staircase of the mansion, a familiar voice stopped him in his tracks.
"Well, well, I never thought you'd actually come back."
Kai turned, his eyes settling on a man leaning casually against the marble pillar. It was his wonderful uncle, Song Ren.
The man's smile was polite and soft, as if he truly had affection for Kai, but Kai knew that behind that smile was a man who would do anything to end him. Not that he minded indulging his antics once in a while, but still, it was a little annoying, having to deal with hired assassins every so often. But now that Amelia was in his life, that irritation had grown into something closer to rage.
