On the veranda of Ellyn's rented house
Ellyn sighed, stretching her arms as she watched Hazuki sulk.
"Hmmm, Uncle… looks like you can't learn any magic for now."
Hazuki froze.
"Ehhh!?!?"
Ellyn crossed her arms, tilting her head.
"We already tried, right? I even taught you a simple chant for a small fire spell, like this—"
She held out her palm, a soft glow forming as she chanted.
"O spirit of the eternal warmth, grant me your ember. Ignite."
A tiny flame flickered into existence, dancing on her fingertips.
Hazuki's eyes sparkled.
"OHHH!! THAT'S COOL!!!"
But—when he tried? Nothing.
"And you already tried several times, but nothing happened."
Ellyn sighed, extinguishing the flame.
"I think… you just don't have the talent for magic like this."
Hazuki felt his soul leave his body.
"Seriously?!"
Ellyn shrugged.
"I don't know for sure. But don't give up yet. There are different types of magic, after all."
Hazuki perked up.
"Oh? Like what?"
Ellyn held up two fingers.
