Chapter 28 - Chapter 28

"Oh no, where is it?" Zoe muttered to herself, Frantically searching her bag for her prenatal vitamins.

Zoe brought along her small bag, packed with a few essential clothes. Three elegant gowns, two casual tea-shirts, two pairs of jeans and cozy pajamas including her hand bag.

'Could it be that I simply misplaced it in my hand bag.' Zoe thought.

With a surge of hope, Zoe grabbed her handbag, searched into its interior and breathed a sigh of relief upon finding the prenatal vitamins.

Having removed the necessary dose, Zoe returned the bottle back in her handbag.

After taking her medication, Zoe settled comfortably into the couch.

It hadn't been twenty minutes Zoe settled on the couch when Bernard suddenly walked into the room. His arrival caught Zoe off guard, as she was already wondering when Bernard would be back.

"Welcome back, Bernard." Zoe exclaimed, her eyes shining with happiness.

"Yeah." Bernard responded and opened his arms wide, inviting Zoe into a warm hug.

With a gentle headshake, Zoe rose from the couch to wrap Bernard in a warm, welcoming hug.

Bernard buried his face in Zoe's neck and breathed in deeply. "You always smell so good, Zoe."

Zoe's face lit up with a radiant smile. "Thank you and you smell nice too."

"Thank you." Bernard responded, giving Zoe a kiss on her forehead.

Zoe's heart swelled with love and security whenever Bernard was by her side.

"Have you had anything to eat yet?" Zoe asked Bernard, concerned that he might be hungry.

"I'm still on an empty stomach, but I already asked Lucy to whip up something for me." Bernard replied, smiling.

"Okay."

Bernard didn't need to ask Zoe if she'd eaten, because his Mom had already mentioned their breakfast together when he met her receiving fresh air outside.

"Did anyone give you a hard time while I was away?" Bernard inquired.

"No."

Zoe wondered if she should tell Bernard about the way Michael had acted towards her that morning—it definitely wasn't okay.

'Should I tell Bernard about Michael's claims that I belong to him? That he claimed to have met me first? I don't know how he'll react, and It might spark unnecessary conflict between the siblings.' Zoe thought to herself.

"What's occupying your thoughts." Bernard inquired, sensing Zoe's quiet contemplation.

"Nothing." Zoe responded with a smile.

"Tonight, I would love to take you to a dinner party." Bernard said, awaiting Zoe's response.

"Huh, rest and relaxation were the plans, not dinner out." Zoe said with a chuckle.

"It's a quiet dinner for the two of us, no stress." Bernard reassured Zoe with a gentle smile.

Bernard tried to convince Zoe to join him for dinner. His persistent encouragement wasn't just about dinner, he had a secret plan to pop the question with the engagement ring he had carefully selected.

"But I didn't plan for that." Zoe protested. "I didn't bring a special outfit or shoes for a fancy dinner."

"Your outfit for tonight has already been taken care of." Bernard said with a smile.

"How's that even possible? you don't know my size."

As a true romantic man he is. Bernard possessed an intuitive sense of style, effortlessly determining his partner's size with a single glance.

"Have you agreed to follow me to dinner, or do I need to persuade you further.?" Bernard asked with a charming smile.

'This man is heaven-sent, full of life and vitality, and he knows how to lift my spirit.' Zoe thought to herself.

"I said yes to dinner, so where's the outfit?" Zoe asked, raising an eyebrow.

Bernard grinned. "Your dress and shoes are in the car. I bought them on my way home. Hang on, I'll have my driver bring them over."

Bernard had thoughtfully bought the outfit and heel shoe, because he wasn't sure if Zoe had brought anything suitable, given the spontaneous dinner invitation.

Bernard quickly dialed his driver's number and instructed him to retrieve the outfit and the pair of shoe from the car and hand it over to Emily, his laundress. So she could bring it up to his room.

'Luckily, I kept Michael's creepy moves to myself. Bernard would have freaked out.' Zoe mumbled.

A knock came on the door, and Bernard promptly opened it, he collected the outfit and shoe from Emily and closed the door behind him.

"Zoe's anticipation grew as Bernard presented them to her. "Try it on, I'm eager to see how it fits on you.

Zoe's shyness got the better of her. She stepped behind the wardrobe and carefully unpacked the dress from the exquisite garment bag.

Zoe's eyes scanned the label on the dress, her heart skipped a beat. "Huh." She exclaimed, as she read the coveted brand name "Gucci," a testament to Bernard's impeccable taste.

Bernard's fondness for Gucci was well-known. As he regularly indulged in their high-end perfumes, leather bags, and other premium items.

Zoe was impressed to see the luxury brand. She quickly took off the previous clothes she had on.

She had long fantasized about living a life of opulence, and now, as she slipped into the stunning Gucci gown, she felt like she was finally diving into the luxurious world she had always desired.

With a glance in the mirror, Zoe's reflection revealed a transformed woman. And she felt like the luckiest person alive, basking in the glow of her own beauty.

Zoe's excitement over the dress nearly caused her to overlook the exquisite shoes Bernard had selected to pair with it. But then she spotted them, gleaming on the floor.

To Zoe's delight, the pair of shoes Bernard had chosen to complement her stunning Gucci dress were also from the same esteemed brand. They fit her perfectly, being exactly her size.

With the stunning Gucci gown hugging her curves, Zoe stepped out from behind the wardrobe. Zoe's gaze met Bernard's. "How did you manage to determine my exact size?"

Bernard was left speechless by how amazing she looked. He felt an overwhelming sense of satisfaction, proud that he had successfully determined Zoe's perfect size, making the luxurious gift even more special.
