Once I made it out to the pasture, Christian came over and helped me up on the horse after the stablehand saddled him.
The whole time, Lark was calm and allowed us to get him ready for riding.
"Must be a good day today. I've never seen Lark so calm before!" the stablehand exclaimed.
"Lark just has good taste. If I were him, I'd also be willing to have such a beautiful woman ride me," said Christian, smiling up at me.
His undisguised flirting caused me to blush. While he had called me beautiful on multiple occasions, they were always in private.
Hearing it now, in front of others, somehow made it even more special.
The stablehand nodded, agreeing with Christian's comment while staying polite.
"Okay, let's see if Lark will listen to you while you walk him around," he said, motioning for me to begin.
I held on to the reins and gently squeezed Lark's sides with my calves. He responded immediately and began to walk forward.
