Chapter 2 - Finding Purpose (2/3)

As the dust settled around the HQ, tension filled the air. Cora's intel reached the HQ as she explained what had happened. How Orette escaped from the mirror, threatened her with a gun, and took out with her car. Upon hearing her urgent call, the man-in-charge Hector took over the controls and ordered base unit 13 to chase after the car.

Five strong men exited HQ and took medium-sized riffles with them. Their car was ready on set and with enough prayers, they took off with no stopping speed. The target car was heading out to 'Longl Bridge' as it was known for its longest length.

The drive was in the open lane. A few cars were seen driving at a limited speed. It felt like driving on a highway without traffic, but it was on a bridge.

They found Cora's car with the same license plate a few minutes later. On Hector's command, they stall the car from behind but at a close distance. One of the men pulled his upper abdomen out of the car window, aiming for the car's wheel but suddenly he noticed the car shifting gears. He got back in and told his teammates to pace up. But it was already too late. Cora's car's engine roars and accelerates, weaving through traffic with precision.

The target car turns to the left to get away from Unit 13 but Unit 13 turning wild boasts its engine and tries to catch up to its target. The two cars gain closer to each other, narrowing their distance and matching each other's speed.

But the roads become complicated, and many other cars get in their way. Unit 13's car barrels down the streets, narrowly avoiding collisions as they enter the city's main lane. And that's where the real chase began.

The target's speed intensifies, leading it to collide and crash with other cars. Civilians upon its arrival took protection and began to rush to the nearest shop they could find. Unit 13 didn't have a choice but to ignore the damages as they drove past the city center.

Both cars again narrowed, almost parallel to each other. One of the men again aimed at the tire but the target car immediately stopped, pulled back, and turned to the right to a narrow alley.

The target's car speeds down a narrow alley, barely fitting between the walls. Unit 13 hesitates but follows, scraping against the sides.

Unit 13 followed as proceeded from Hector, they opened fire to hit the back tire from behind but failed to do so as the car exited the narrow lane and drove to an open road. Unit 13 attempts to follow but skids and CRASHES into a parked car.

Target's car guns up the engine as it makes its way to a folding bridge. With enough power, racing towards the edge. The car flies off the bridge, soaring through the air. And landed on the other side.

Hector furious by the results loses his temper and aims to throw his chair with all his might. Losing a precious target meant dealing with the fourth generation, the hours of discrimination and prejudice were enough to make his mind go mental. But he knew he couldn't let uneasy thoughts roam his mind, with a clear head he ordered for the school's hall footage immediately.

A file was instantly sent to him on his monitor, and he clicked to display the transmission on a huge projection screen. He saw what he couldn't believe, 000 in the flesh, though she had changed, but her attitude and her aura remained.

All the units in charge slowly stopped their work and paid attention to the first sector screen Hector was playing. The footage from the school was replayed twice or thrice. What they saw undoubtedly pleased them yet terrified them.

Hector remained calm, again rephrasing the video. Again and again, till he finally knew where she was heading. 'We must stop her before she reaches him', thought Hector when he buzzed the alarm.

He quickly called Units 11 and 15 to head straight towards the following Coordinates; Scaple Falcon High, a prestigious school for boys and a nest for a precious one.

Both units waited, hidden as normal cars as the target car approached the front gate. Unit 15 from the back and Unit 11 from the front, surrounded as the men stepped out from the car and aimed their rifles. There it was, they finally corned her.

One of the men approached the car and knocked at the window, waiting patiently as the window screen slid down. What he saw shocked him completely, a man with rags and messy hair, a beard, and dark circle eyes.

Units informed Hector about this situation, but Hector was already lost in the thought of what was happening. Has he been chasing the wrong person, but the license plate matched perfectly, was he playing? No, maybe she's not going to him but searching for her.

He instantly orders all tropes to head to a different location as he types the coordinates. Unit 11 took off and unit 15 arrived back with the man. Hector, putting his subordinates in charge rushed to the interrogation room to have a chat with this so-called target.

Meanwhile, Orette who was deeply satisfied by a magazine she was reading, was playfully humming as passengers passed by her seat. The magazine title 'Finding Purpose' fascinated her as she skimmed through the pages. Finally, the driver told her she had arrived at her destination.

Orette who closes the magazine exits the bus like a normal citizen. As the sun hits her eyes, she shares them with her hand reading the school title, "Scalpe Falcon High".

She smiles at the thought of how interesting it would be after meeting for seven years. She walked towards the front gate carefully examining the exterior but was stopped by the front guard. Obviously, a prestigious school would have a tight security check, and Orette who was equipped with a gun was in a worse situation.

"Kid this is a boy school, what kind of business do you have here?", the guard asked in a demanding manner.

His rough voice was enough to tell Orette that he wasn't pleased to see her. So she confidently showed Zion's identity card and said, "I sincerely apologize for any trouble. I've come to find my brother; his friends mentioned he used to work here. I truly meant no harm, and I hope you can find it in your heart to let me in."

Fake tears exit her eyelids as she wipes from the back of her hand. A small girl crying in front of a middle-aged man was not a pretty sight to see.

The guard knew a team of scientists going in and out of the school didn't dare make a scene. 'What's one small girl going to do anyway?' he thought as he gave Orette access.

She made her way to the main building, curious, she scanned for security cameras and loudspeakers which were more than expected. Since it was a boy school, she gained so much attention that it started to bother her. Incuriosity hit her as she found the school map.

There are four main floors, each packed with eight different rooms, four on the left and four on the right. Orette tried to figure out the most confined room with the most confined power.

Her only option led to the basement with all the power generators located, but then a certain thought hit her, there were way too many security cameras and loudspeakers, why was that?

At a certain thought, someone patted her back gently gaining her attention. It was a medium-sized boy with huge thick glasses and well-cut hair. 'Typical' Orette thought as she was introduced to the hall monitor.

"I'm Jackson Smith, hall monitor of this school", he said as he crossed both arms behind, "Is there anything you need?."

Orette thought she was lucky, if she asked questions from this boy maybe she would be able to find him but her intrusive thoughts took over her. He is a teacher's pet, of course, if someone asks him, he would already spilled the beans. So she came up with an excuse.

"Sorry to bother you, but I was told that my brother was somewhere working here, he forgot his identity card and I'm here to retrieve it for him."

Orette so badly wanted to ask about him, but she knew she shouldn't get the best of herself. Jackson who was patiently thinking finally said,

"I understand, that identity card matters more to a person, especially in this school since weird things have been happening".

"Oh, I see".

"I suggest you quickly finish what you are about to do, this place is nasty and you will be disturbed by unnecessary insects, please do ignore them".

"I will."

While Orette talks to Jackson, she finally figures out where they have kept him.
