Not a single word of thanks was given to Silas, even though he had retrieved the bodies of the villagers' loved ones from the water.
The villagers even looked at him with eyes full of prejudice, not daring to come near him—not even a little.
Behind Silas, there were sounds of crying or screams filled with fear and pain, and occasionally the sound of someone vomiting.
Suddenly, a furious and deafening shout rang out:
"Bastard! Get out of the village! It's all your fault! The gods wouldn't have abandoned us if it weren't for you! You cursed wretch, get out of this village!"
The voice echoed so loudly that even from a distance away, Silvanus could still hear it. Silas must have heard it too—but he didn't react immediately. His pace didn't even slow down by a fraction.
Yet no matter how much rage was packed into that scream, the truth remained: the person shouting didn't dare take even one step forward. They were honestly terrified of Silas.
