- Lucien Draven:
I woke up still feeling the ghost of last night. The way Ronan had looked at me—eyes blown wide, lips parted in shock.
The way his breath had hitched when I leaned in. The way my own heart had raced, louder than the silence that stretched between us.
I hadn't been able to sleep for hours after leaving the library. My mind kept replaying it, over and over. The words I had said. The way I had finally given voice to something I hadn't fully understood until now.
"I want you too."
I had said it.
I had meant it.
But Ronan…
I expected him to deny it. To pretend it never happened. Maybe he would convince himself he misheard me. Maybe he would go out of his way to avoid me, or worse, act like nothing had changed between us at all.
I wasn't sure which option I preferred.
