Again, it didn't take long for Alex to pick up the call as if his phone was always in his hand, or maybe he had been waiting for her call the whole time.
Eve surely wished the second option was the real answer.

Alex's voice sounded as calm as usual, but Eve knew he was everything but calm. There was a heavy tone in his voice as if he was holding back a lot of anger right now.
She also heard his footsteps and a few commotion outside, so she guessed that he already left the mansion at this point and was probably about to confront Roger or Pierre.
"Are you busy? I… uh… I just want to talk for a second."
There was a pause from the other side, before Alex asked, "What happened? Did the company threaten you? Let me have a bit of a talk with the representative."
"N-no, I've handled everything well enough. It's all good now, and the representative of the Honor company was satisfied with the compensation I offered," Eve replied.
