Chapter 100 - Chapter 100: Olov’s Conversation

'As expected of the principal, impressive.'

Although Qin Siyang's expression still showed anger, and he was panting heavily, he secretly admired Li Tianming's way with words.

He clearly explained the cause and effect, then proposed a method for future improvement. The entire thing was flawless.

After listening, Qian Wenzhao pretended to think for a moment before slowly nodding.

"Principal Li, what you said is indeed reasonable. I will report this matter truthfully to the Bureau and have it archived."

Olov stared at Li Tianming, who wore a slight smile, for a while but said nothing.

Li Tianming said, "Thank you, Section Chief Qian, for your understanding. Our school will continue to work hard."

"Alright, I have finished asking my questions. I will return to the Bureau now. Detective Olov, I won't wait for you."

Qian Wenzhao was careful to maintain a distant and indifferent attitude toward Qin Siyang at all times to prevent Olov from noticing anything unusual.

Unlike Li Tianming, who had no serious cases to bear, no chance for promotion, and had been assigned to a remote area as a high school principal, Qian Wenzhao had always been diligent. Additionally, his awakened sequence ability was rare, and if he continued working hard, becoming the Bureau Chief before retiring was practically guaranteed.

If he provoked Olov and got involved in trouble, that was the last thing he wanted.

Olov nodded, "Mm, I look forward to our next meeting, Section Chief Qian."

"Alright."

Qian Wenzhao stood up, glanced at Li Tianming, who was still seated, and said, "Principal Li, Detective Olov and Qin need to speak in private. You should step out as well."

"Understood, Section Chief Qian," Li Tianming got up and followed Qian Wenzhao out of the principal's office, closing the door behind him.

Only Qin Siyang and Olov remained.

Olov smiled slightly, the deep wrinkles on his aged face etched by time, "Qin Siyang, you're quite impressive. You fooled me."

Qin Siyang quietly looked at Olov, saying nothing.

"I've worked in the police department for forty years and have only been deceived seven times in total."

"You're the youngest one."

Qin Siyang remained silent.

"The last time I saw you in the internet café's storage room, I really thought you were just a pitiful, impoverished child being tormented by that damn, relatively wealthy Wang Defa."

"I never imagined that a seventeen-year-old high school student could manipulate a local thug like Wang Defa."

Olov sighed to himself.

Qin Siyang stayed silent.

The moment Olov learned about his awakened sequence ability, any explanation was pointless.

So, he had no interest in saying anything unnecessary.

He simply waited for Olov's questions.

Olov wasn't posing any questions yet—just stating what he believed to be facts.

If Qin Siyang spoke now, he might reveal even more.

Seeing how calm and composed Qin Siyang was, Olov became even more convinced that this boy was no ordinary person.

So, he threw out his first question.

"The day before yesterday, while browsing the sequence ability database, I saw your file. I was shocked. I double-checked multiple times before confirming that the person was indeed you. So, I immediately went to the internet café and asked Wang Defa about you. Guess what he said?"

Qin Siyang knew this was bait.

Although Wang Defa was just an internet café owner on the fringes of the Safe Zone, he had backing and was sharp.

That night in the storage room, Wang Defa never admitted to anything, nor did he claim to have wronged Qin Siyang in any way.

All of Olov's suspicions had been imposed on him based on his own subtle body language and words.

If Wang Defa insisted he had nothing to do with him, then everyone would be fine.

But if he let something slip, he would fall into an abyss.

As an orphan, Qin Siyang was sure that no matter how Olov interrogated Wang Defa, he wouldn't get anything.

Qin Siyang slowly spoke, "Detective Olov, is this what you wanted to ask me today? I don't see how this has anything to do with me."

Olov clicked his tongue, "You know Wang Defa won't say anything, don't you?"

"Detective Olov, I'm just a student. Your questions are too deep for me to understand."

"What's your relationship with Wang Defa?"

"Just normal friends."

"Normal friends?"

"Yes."

"That's not what you said last time."

"Really? I forgot."

Olov ran his fingers through his silver hair, "You're a tough one, kid. Maybe I should get an interrogation warrant and lock you up at the police station for questioning."

"I know about that, Detective Olov. I'm a sequence ability user. Only the Sequence Ability Bureau has the authority to detain me. You don't seem to have that power."

Olov's gaze sharpened, "You sure know a lot. Did you look this up at Wang Defa's internet café?"

"No, the café is too expensive—I can't afford it. I used Principal Li Tianming's office computer."

Qin Siyang didn't admit to using the internet café's resources.

Because before he awakened his sequence ability, he was just an orphan. If he frequently visited an internet café, explaining how he afforded the fees would be a tricky issue.

So, he cut it off completely and used Li Tianming as a shield.

"The only people who know about your internet history at the café are you, Wang Defa, and Liu Dazhi."

"You killed Liu Dazhi, and Wang Defa won't say anything. I really have no way to deal with you."

Qin Siyang's expression didn't change, but his heart tightened.

He hadn't expected Olov to connect Liu Dazhi's accidental death to him.

"Besides, you have a perfect alibi."

"When I arrived at the school, I checked with the gatekeeper and reviewed the surveillance footage from the morning Liu Dazhi died. You arrived at the school less than ten minutes after he died—you had no time to commit the crime."

"Then that proves I didn't kill him."

A sly glint flashed in Olov's eyes, "You should've asked me who Liu Dazhi was."

A brief silence.

Qin Siyang shook his head, "Since I know Wang Defa, how could I not know Liu Dazhi? Detective Olov, I'm saddened by his accidental death too. But accusing me of killing him is a bit much."

"After all, as you said, I had no time to commit the crime."

Olov clenched his fist slightly and narrowed his eyes at Qin Siyang.

It had been a long time since he'd encountered such a tricky suspect.

And he was just a seventeen-year-old high school student.

"You're very cautious. A natural-born criminal," This was Olov's conclusion after his first round of questioning.

"Yes, as I said, you had no time to commit the crime."

"That is, assuming you hadn't awakened your sequence ability yet at the time."

Qin Siyang calmly said, "But I did awaken it last weekend."

"No, you could have pretended to awaken it last weekend while actually using it much earlier."

Qin Siyang shrugged, "Detective Olov, your theory is interesting."

"But how do you prove it?"
