"Some rogues were spotted across the border, this would cause more damage to us" Alexander responded.
"How did they get in? The last survey showed that there were no rogues around the territory. Someone must have let them in."
"Two workers were reported dead on patrol from poisoning. It must have been the work of the rogues. If they infiltrate the pack, it will only spell doom for everyone"
"But if the rogues want to cause trouble, they'll rather pick up a fight. They're acting rather surreptitiously like they have ulterior motives. Why would they poison the security instead of just killing them with bare hands" Kael made a point.
"That sounds true. It looks like they want to get into the pack. I think some of them have already gotten into the pack lands."
"Heighten the security around the pack. We have to wipe them out as soon as possible" Kael commanded.
"And one thing" he added to Alexander who was about to leave. "Don't let anyone leave the pack borders for now. We have to fish out the rogues."
"Rogues," Fiona repeated after eavesdropping into their conversation.
She had already planned to escape from the pack and now she was hearing news about rogues. She also overheard when Kael gave others that no one should be allowed to leave the pack.
Sighing, she picked up the clothes and dumped them in the laundry, sitting on the cold bare floor and leaning her back on the wall in desperation.
"I'd have to escape some other time" she sighed to herself.
She knew within her that even if she grew up as an orphan, this life was too miserable for her to live.
She was going to wash the clothes just this one time, clean the room for the baby and after now escape when the coast is clear.
Picking up a bar of soap she proceeded to wash the clothes. Most of the clothes were terribly dirty. She wondered if the lady that gave her the clothes purposely gave her extremely dirty clothes just to frustrate her and waste her time.
She sighed as she sat down to rest for a while. Leaning her back on the wall, she closed her eyes and almost drifted into a short sleep before she was woken up by a voice.
"What are you doing sitting down like that?" The voice sounded familiar.
She opened her eyes and looked in the direction. It was the same lady who dumped a bucket of water on her.
"Doesn't she have other important things to do other than disturbing me" Fiona muttered to herself.
"What are you mumbling about? Just so you know, I'm the supervisor of works here and I've been assigned to make sure that you perform your duties properly"
She picked one of the clothes that was hanging on the rope, looked at it intently and then threw it on the floor. Not satisfied, she threw two more on the floor.
"These are still dirty, wash them again" she commanded with a sinister grin on her face.
When the annoying lady was gone, she picked up the clothes and spread them back on the rope.
She had already made up her mind that she won't wash the clothes a second time.
Those clothes were clean and the lady was only looking for a way to frustrate her efforts.
"Crazy bitch" she cursed.
She went back to sitting on the floor and cupped her chin in high palm. Her eyes rummaged through the room like she was looking for something. She wasn't sure if she could find what she was looking for. She was looking for the answer to one thing and that was Kael's sudden change of character towards her.
Meanwhile at a different location, something was cooking.
"You have only one task to perform" a woman wearing a dark cloak and a dark hat addressed.
"I know, my lady," the second woman responded.
"With everything we have bestowed on you, you're supposed to have executed the plan by now" the cloaked woman remarked with an air of authority.
"Send me instead my lady. I will complete the task within a day"
"Silence! Raven, you won't speak when I'm talking"
"I'm sorry my lady" the woman who was referred to as Raven bowed her head in respect.
"I have already sent her to carry out the task. You are not the one who tells me what to do"
"My apologies, my lady"
The cloaked woman who held the air of authority took a deep sigh and continued,
"How many rogues did you set on the pack lands?" She asked the woman whom she had sent to carry out the task.
"About ten of them," she responded.
"Ten?" The cloaked woman repeated.
"Yes ma"
"Would ten be enough to pull down the entire pack"
"I selected the best of the worst. They can definitely end the entire pack with a single blow"
"Good"
"Everyone would be here with me to witness the fall of the mystic furs pack and all the entire packs we have set to conquer. I will deliver my task to the fullest. I won't let you down, my lady" she said and the entire gathering started chanting.
"Centauri"
"Centauri"
"Centauri"
The cloaked lady raised her hand signaling for a moment of silence.
"I knew I chose the right person for the job. You would bring honor to the centauri clan and together we will have our revenge and take back what is ours" the cloaked lady said standing up from her seat and lifting herself up in the air with both hands lifted up.
She finally came down and settled on the ground. Placing her right hand on the woman whom she had sent on a work, she recited some spells and chanted some incantations.
"Ble sire asfat dire sika"
The long awaited battle must be fought
"Ali sin gabinat dofe"
We must destroy and conquer
"Rine aneta tige alat"
When the sun sets and dust covers the land, then it will be ours
"Frine tomo toko late sive"
We must come into limelight and take our place
She paused, releasing her hand from the woman's chest and took a chalk, drawing a circle around her, then sprinkled some substance from a silver dish in the air.
"I have reinforced my fortification for you. Your spells will only be stronger from now."
The cloaked lady signaled for a tray to be brought to her. She picked up the jar from the tray and poured the condiments into bottles and locked them tightly.
"I brewed stronger portions for your use. Take it" she said, handing it over to her.
The woman collected it with open hands and bowed her head in gratitude.
"I wouldn't fail you, my leader. I would do all that you have assigned to me and bring honor to the entire clan"
"You may all leave," the cloaked woman said, signaling that the meeting had ended.
Ella exited the gathering holding the bottles of portions which had been assigned to her in one hand and a bag in the other hand.
