EPISODE 3: CONFLICT

[10;56 PM] [monday]

[December 14 2024]

[Inside of kal's highschool H.E.P, it stands for higher education preparation,or better known as teacher staffroom]

The H.E.P room is packed with problematic students, yet none of the teachers pay attention to their antics. After all, their actions don't cause physical harm, at least, not directly.

I sit behind the round table, Adrian across from me, a wad of cotton pressed against his temple. The air between us is thick with silence, both of us waiting for the moment we can finally step out of school grounds.

Outside, Felix leans against the door, waiting for Adrian. He's also there in case the teachers decide they need a witness.

"Hayqal! Why did you do that?!" Teacher Haslin's sharp voice cuts through the tense air, demanding an explanation for my actions.

Teacher Haslin-the school's head of discipline.

I let out a reluctant sigh at the all-too-familiar question. "I told you, I don't remember-"

A loud slam echoes as Haslin's hand crashes against the round table, cutting me off.

"Don't act dumb, Hayqal. There's no way you don't remember. It's impossible to do something like that and not be fully aware of it." Her stern voice leaves no room for nonsense before she turns her glare toward Adrian.

"And you. Why did you provoke him?"

Adrian shrugs, leaning back with that same tough-guy poker face that pisses me off. "Because he started it first. He bullied one of my friends a few months ago."

I narrow my eyes. Bullshit. I don't even know if he's lying or if he actually believes the nonsense he's spouting.

Haslin turns back to me, her glare unwavering. "Is that true, Hayqal?"

I scoff, shaking my head. "No. I never bullied any of your friends. Hell, I don't even know you. You've been bumping into me for months now. And how did you react when I told you ,nicely to knock it off? Cocky and unserious. And now that we're in this mess, you're trying to spin some shit story for the teachers, you fucking bald failed abortion-"

"Enough!" Haslin's voice cuts through my words like a blade. "We do not tolerate that kind of language or behavior in this school!" Her eyes blaze with anger, her breath heavy with frustration.

Then, with a sharp movement, she throws two report papers and pens onto the table.

"Shame on both of you."

Just like that, the decision is made-the reports will determine who's lying and who's not.

I exhale sharply, muttering under my breath, "This is all because of you."

Adrian hears me, of course. "Oh yeah? Maybe if you weren't such an asshole and didn't take a joke so seriously-"

I cut him off. "A joke? You think bumping into me, embarrassing me in front of a crowd, is a joke? That shit's not funny, and it sure as hell ain't a joke."

His expression darkens. "Well, you did bully my friend-"

Before he can finish, I throw my pen at his chest. "Who? Who the fuck is this 'friend' of yours that says I bullied him? Let me break his jaw."

He glares at me, chest rising and falling with anger.

"It's Aiman." His voice is venomous, filled with vengeful rage.

I stare at him. "Aiman? Never heard of him." My voice is calm, but my mind is racing. "Did you ever try to confirm if what he said was true? Because from the looks of it, you just jumped straight to conclusions."

Before I can say another word, he hurls his pen straight at my face.

I let out an irritated sigh, resting my clenched fist on the table. "Fine. Since you're so damn sure, tell me one thing, just one thing, I did to him. Give me a single fucking example."

Silence.

Then, a teacher from across the room, barely paying attention to our mess, finally speaks up. "Alright, tone it down, both of you." She stamps a bunch of documents on her desk without even looking at us. "Whatever the hell you two have going on, settle it outside of school. The H.E.P has enough damn cases to deal with this year. So either escalate it, de-escalate it, I don't give a shit, just fuck off from the H.E.P."

Me and Adrian let out exhausted sighs, grabbing each other's pens to write our reports, ending the argument, at least for now.
