No matter what happens, panicking is useless. Daisy took a few deep breaths to calm down, and then his mind began to race with thoughts.
Suddenly, he noticed a lot of stones near the surrounding mountain walls, remnants of rubble from the glacier movement in this area. These stones varied in size and shape, most of them angular. Upon seeing these stones, a plan quickly formed in his mind.
"Wingardium Leviosa." Daisy chanted the Levitation Charm on a stone about half his height. The stone floated above the altar before he canceled the spell.
The stone quickly crashed down onto the mummy from the height of a three-story building. The mummy staggered from the impact, and the strange whistling sound from its mouth stopped. This caused the flickering light on the altar to immediately become chaotic.
Seeing that this tactic was effective, Daisy used his wand to locate more stones from the area, then smashed them onto the altar. The altar was likely too drained of energy to resist, and the only way to stop the monsters was by smashing them. This also caused the blood cells to slowly lose their vibrant color as the flickering light on the altar grew brighter.
The mummy on the altar noticed this, but because the ceremony was in progress, it couldn't command the other monsters to attack Daisy.
Just as the ceremony seemed on the verge of failure, the four mummies on the altar suddenly plunged their claws into their chests, and a trace of black and red smoke floated from their chests to the baseball-sized blood orb suspended in the air.
With the mummies' actions, the monsters under the altar began to change. They disintegrated into a torrent of flesh and blood, flowing up the altar's steps.
At a glance, the scene appeared as an extremely dark sacrifice. Daisy attempted to interrupt the process, but as soon as the sacrifices began, a transparent blood-colored barrier rose around the altar, bouncing off all the stones thrown afterward.
Daisy had no choice but to retreat to the mountain road at the entrance of the clearing. With his wand in one hand and a spare grappling hook in the other, he realized that even the smaller monsters wouldn't be able to withstand this new threat, let alone a large beast like this. As such, using the mountain road to fight was his only viable option.
As time passed, the surrounding blood-colored mist grew thicker. The monsters on the altar began to transform: the flesh and blood from the disintegrated monsters wrapped around the blood orb, forming a massive blood-colored cocoon. The mist from the mummies' chests floated toward the cocoon.
With each passing moment, the mist slowly gathered, and the mummies quickly weathered away, turning to ash. At the same time, the blood cocoon released a blinding light, forcing Daisy to shield his eyes.
Once the light faded, Daisy saw that almost everything on the altar had disappeared, leaving only a blood-red giant wolf standing alone. It stood as tall as a two-story building, and the saliva dripping from its sharp teeth corroded the stone altar beneath it, leaving holes in its wake.
The giant wolf let out a roar that echoed through the space before turning its malicious gaze toward Daisy's hiding place. Daisy's pupils shrank, and his newly acquired sixth sense told him that the wolf's intent was deadly.
"This is endless," Daisy thought with a wry smile. It was clear now that his actions near the altar had awakened a long-slumbering force. The altar had been preparing to awaken a certain monster as part of its original plan. However, Daisy's interference had disrupted the ceremony, causing the monster to awaken prematurely. The creature was now bound to kill him.
"I'm just trying to relax, yet I find myself caught in something so horrific," Daisy thought. As the giant wolf lunged toward him, Daisy quickly swung himself around the surrounding mountain walls with ropes and grappling hooks to avoid the beast's attack.
Despite its massive size, the wolf's agility was astonishing, and it could even use its claws to hook onto the stone walls and move up steep cliffs with ease.
While dodging, Daisy used various magical counterattacks, but none were effective. His spells hit the wolf like mud on a stone wall, having no effect. Only dragon grass flames and sunlight crystals seemed to cause any real damage, but even then, they only left shallow scorch marks on the wolf's fur, which healed almost immediately.
Thankfully, despite its immense defense and strength, the giant wolf seemed to lack even the basic intelligence of a regular wolf. There were places where Daisy could evade it, and the wolf often slammed into the stones, giving him moments to counterattack while retreating.
As the wolf crashed through seven or eight stone walls, Daisy began to wonder if every creature born from evil forces shared a similar mindset when their plans went awry: get rid of the unexpected intruder first.
Whether it was Tom Riddle from the Triwizard Tournament or the monsters who had left this altar behind, their priority was always to eliminate the one who had disrupted their plans.
Even though the giant wolf had lost its intelligence due to a ritual error, it still relentlessly focused on Daisy as if its sole purpose was to kill him.
The wolf's mindless pursuit made all of Daisy's countermeasures futile. The creature ignored everything around it and zeroed in on Daisy, never wavering in its goal.
Daisy realized that continuing in this manner was unsustainable. He was human, not a machine, and could not keep up this pace indefinitely. The wolf's muscular frame was a clear indication that if it came down to pure physical endurance, Daisy would not be able to match it.
At this moment, Daisy saw a potential opening. Through careful observation, he realized that while the wolf continuously swung its front claws, it did not go all out with each swipe. Only once every five strikes did its claws manage to scratch the stone walls, and even with his Iron Armor spell, Daisy could withstand the other four attacks.
Now, he had to take a gamble. The plan wasn't perfect, but there was a decent chance of success. Even if he failed, there was an 80% chance he wouldn't be killed outright. It was worth the risk. Despite being almost certain that he was in a lucid dream, Daisy knew that in the magical world, even dreams could be deadly, and he had no intention of becoming its victim.
With this in mind, Daisy slowed his pace, and something slipped into his right hand. The giant wolf noticed Daisy's slowing movement and immediately charged at him.
At that moment, Daisy was hanging in mid-air by the rope, with the wolf's claws aimed at him. He couldn't dodge the attack in time, so he released the rope and fell to the ground, casting an Iron Armor spell just before impact.
The wolf's reflexes were quick, and when it saw Daisy drop, it swiftly adjusted its trajectory. It didn't stop, but instead swiped its claws down with renewed force.
The strike collided with Daisy's Iron Armor spell, blocking the attack, but the wolf wasn't done. It opened its mouth wide and lunged at Daisy with an unstoppable bite.
