Natalia took a deep breath her gaze on Jolie.
"Years ago, Elisa was grounded for going out late at night. She came home completely intoxicated, and that was when Mr. Christopher Smith had to freeze her accounts." She smiled, as if the motion could somehow bring back the funny memories she was recounting.
"He believed the money she had was the reason she became so extravagant."
Willy raised an eyebrow, his expression unreadable.
"With the little money she had, she began betting in different casinos in town. When Mr. Christopher realized what she was doing, he became terrified—afraid that gambling would ruin her life completely. So he unfroze her accounts."
Jolie's eyes widened in disbelief.
"OMG! I can't believe this! I've been Elisa's childhood friend, and I didn't know about her gambling habit!"
The morning sun filtered through the glass window of the Smith household, casting warm rays over Elisa as she slowly awakened.
