"Whew, think it's about time I got some rest. Now that I think about it… when was the last time I ate?"
The thought hit me harder than expected. Had I really gone that long without food? My mind had been so preoccupied lately that hunger hadn't even crossed my mind.
Maybe I don't need to eat anymore?
I shrugged, brushing off the oddity. "Kinda craving tacos right now… fuck it, might as well."
[Would you like to leave this Rend?]
I didn't hesitate. "Yes."
A familiar white light engulfed me, and just like last time, the world around me blurred.
Then—
Blinding sunlight.
My eyes clenched shut as I stepped into the outside world, the sudden brightness a harsh contrast to the dim chaos of the Rend.
"Damn. Was in there longer than I realized."
Blinking away the discomfort, I adjusted to my surroundings. The Bastion wasn't far—just a short walk. Convenient.
As I moved, I passed dozens of Eternals. Some walked alone, others in groups, heading toward the Rends. Their expressions ranged from determined to indifferent.
That wasn't unusual. What was strange, however—
People were looking at me.
Curious glances. Some filled with interest, others unreadable.
My hair had grown longer—maybe that was it?
Before I could dwell on it—
A sharp yelp cut through the air.
My head snapped toward the sound.
A woman.
She was filthy, long white hair matted with dirt, her violet eyes sharp despite the grime covering her face. She was barely clothed, just rags, and barefoot on the cold stone ground.
More importantly—
Three big ass muscular guild members stood over her.
They were bullying her.
And what was worse?
No one was helping.
People watched. Looked. Stared.
But not one of them moved.
My expression darkened. My jaw clenched.
I'll be damned if I just stand here.
I quickened my pace.
Unbeknownst to me..
That single decision just saved the world from being erased.
10MinutesEarlier
She stood in the middle of the street, unnoticed, unseen.
A beggar.
That's what they thought she was.
But in truth—
She was the Void itself.
Her name was Vorethia.
And she was testing them.
For the first time in eternity, she had chosen to descend.
To walk among them.
To see if these so-called Eternals—mortals who had surpassed their limits—were any different from the gods she once created.
She had erased civilizations, watched stars burn to embers, and snuffed out entire realities like they were mere candles in the dark.
Yet here she was.
Holding a small wooden box.
Her box of disappointment.
Not one of them had given her anything. Not a single coin. Not a single scrap of food.
And to think—
She had expected them to be different.
She was bored. That was the only reason she had come here.
But now?
Now she was disgusted.
Her delicate fingers curled around the box's edges, gripping it just a little tighter.
"Not even one.." she whispered to herself.
Not even one of them had an ounce of kindness.
She had placed a condition.
If not a single soul showed compassion… then she would erase it all.
The Bastion. The Rends. The Eternals. The entire structure of existence.
It would all return to nothing.
After all-
The Void takes all.
Then
A sudden impact.
A rough hand shoved her backward, sending her to the cold stone ground.
Pain flared, dull and distant.
Her violet eyes flickered upward.
Three men.
Big. Muscular. Cocky.
Guild members.
One sneered down at her.
"An Eternal who can't even afford clothes? What, you think acting pitiful is gonna get you something?"
Another laughed, kicking over her box.
Empty.
Of course.
"Tch. Figures. Not even worth robbing."
The third, the biggest of them, crouched down.
His hand grabbed her chin. Forced her to look at him.
"You're pretty though," he murmured. A slow grin stretched across his face. "Maybe if you beg a little, I'll give you something."
Void surged.
For a single moment—
The Bastion trembled.
Reality itself shuddered, an unseen force coiling in the air like a beast ready to devour.
A second more
And they would have been erased.
Gone. No soul. No afterlife.
Just nothingness.
But then
A voice cut through the air.
"Leave her the fuck alone."
Vorethia froze.
Her head turned slightly.
A man.
No.
An Eternal.
His aura was strong, far beyond these pathetic insects.
But that wasn't what intrigued her.
It was his expression.
Cold. Uncompromising.
But beneath the sheer intensity of his glare—
There was something else.
Righteous fury.
The air shifted.
For the first time in eternity
Vorethia hesitated.
'Interesting.'
This man, whoever he was..
He had just determined the fate of all existence.
