The screams…
They deafened me as they filled the air. None of Kashar's dragons were on sight. It was just puff, carrying ten or more villagers as he took them to the surface and came back for more, over and over and over again.
It was exhausting just looking at him, they way he tried to hurry up before we all stopped propelling upwards and instead, start plummeting downwards.
Puff worked hard, carrying as many people as he could as he flew to the surface, before we stopped rising. I could see Kashar from the distance, trying to steady himself. He looked off into the distance, as if he was waiting for someone, or something. We were too much, too much for a single dragon. There was no way he would be able to take all of us and make us land safely.
What was I thinking? Were all these lives going to be lost because I wanted to try something? Did I not think this through?
