What do you think, Clara? If I keep increasing my mana, won't it work?
"No matter how much mana you have, resurrection is a skill that cannot be accomplished by regular mana. Even if you do have other worldly mana, it can only be done by a select few Heavenly beings."
...I see.
The only casualty in all of them, after all that, was her. Of course everyone will partake in her funeral. They probably didn't even know what she did for them. But they all still showed up. That same exact day that it happened. During that unnaturally heavy rain.
Something tells me that it was all planned. Not by the humans, but someone else. Because after that, well, lets just say things were a little different.
I didn't go back. The rest did. There were more important matters to deal with.
The next day.
Soldiers were approaching the wall. At first it didn't make sense why they would travel from across the continent before scaling the wall. It would have made more sense to first go to the other side early on then start traveling.
But then I remembered the people who were always watching Lenora from the forest. They must've been spies. That way, they knew exactly where to go and teleported to another city close to the wall. They also knew where to attack. Why did I ignore them?
"Was that what he talked about?" The emperor asked himself. He couldn't understand how the High Priest was able to use such a powerful attack.
Apparently, the force of the blast could be felt from even where he was. Buildings and other manmade structures from as far as Vraris shook from the force of the blast. Not gonna lie, I think it was exaggerated. But I wouldn't know.
It was still fairly early in the morning when the soldiers finally arrived at the wall. It was the first time they were seeing it. Its sheer size and length gave them quite the fright. You could hear pieces of their armor clanking into each other as they trembled. But not all of them were that way.
"Be not afraid, men!" He encouraged them. The High Priest, that is. "It is only but a mere wall. Take a look at your counterparts, the Scarlet Knights. You don't see them trembling, do you?"
He was right. Those in bloodred armor were standing absolutely still. No movement, no sign of fear, no nothing. Only awaiting their orders. It looked like they were turned into puppets of war. But the head piece of the armor made it difficult to tell what kind of emotion they had.
"The larger threat is now gone. Only a few monsters remain. With the mages here, it shouldn't be as tough to..." The priest was saying this while looking around at his soldiers, but stopped when he looked at the mages who were at the back.
Some pressed hard on their stomachs, others barely had the energy to stand as their legs shook violently. It was obvious. There was something with a terrifying aura nearby. Even the priest understood it.
One of the holy knights noticed something above the wall. He pointed up and shouted to everybody for them to look up there.
They didn't get the chance to look when I jumped down right behind the priest. I landed softly on the ground but just loud enough to be heard. The priest turned around and faced me. He didn't know who I was at first.
I looked at him closely. Even with the armor he wore, he sure as hell looked like a priest. He led an army and looked pretty confident. Something told me that he was related to the attack on Lenora yesterday. So I decided to ask.
"Are you the one behind it? What happened yesterday?"
He looked serious for a second then smirked. "That's right. I am. Are you afraid? Don't worry. You won't be facing me." He called one of the holy knights who approached me confidently. "Kill him."
The knight unsheathed his sword from his waist and ran at me. Then he did a heavy swing from the top but I grabbed his elbow and twisted it backwards making him drop the sword and scream in pain.
He fell to his knees while trying to pick up the sword. But I used my other hand and placed it on his back. Then I applied sudden pressure that punctured a hole through him.
Some were scared, others might have thought that I was just lucky to get attacked by someone weak.
"Well done. I guess your stronger than average." The priest commented. "But there's no need to give yourself hope for survival. There's no one on your side to defend you. You should have thought of that before deciding to join the monsters."
"Oh? That was it? I see." The attack was aimed at me. He must think that I'm dead. But how did they know me? Wait, if they do, shouldn't he recognize me... No matter. This makes it even easier.
"Attack him. As many of you as needed. Make sure that his limbs are torn apart." 'This couldn't be him. He's supposed to be dead. But if that's the case,' He turned to look at the mages. 'Why are they so scared?'
The soldiers were running towards me with their swords out. But I had no interest in them.
"I do." A familiar voice spoke in my head. Then blood splattered everywhere. All of the heads of the ones close to me fell and their bodies dropped. It was Uzzaran. "Allow me to take over."
The priest was scared beyond belief. He ordered the mages to attack. It took a few of them some time before reacting. They united their magic and cast vines to tie me up so the knights could hit me.
The vines caught my hands and legs and were about to stretch them out when they were suddenly cut into pieces by an invisible force. The force went all the way back to the mages and sliced some of them in half. Both vertically and horizontally.
The rest were too scared and tried to flee, but multiple hands appeared from the ground and dragged them under the surface as they screamed in terror.
Eventually, only one knight remained who was able to successfully escape, leaving the priest.
"No. That's impossible! Its you! How are you alive?!"
"Is that all you have to say? You don't feel that you're to blame for their deaths? All you care about is why I'm alive?"
He was walking backwards but tripped and fell on his back while I approached him.
"Stay back! Don't come any closer! Anyone who comes into contact with me will anger the goddess!" You didn't have to add that last part.
"But why? I'm only trying to give you a gift."
"Huh?"
"Congratulations. Your efforts to get rid of me have made me notice you. For that I'll give you a gift. The one thing that everyone in this world wants."
"What are you talking about?"
"Immortality. Wouldn't you like immortality? Everyone wants it. I'm sure you do too." I reached out my hand to him and covered his face.
Back in Lenora.
I was looking at the city from the top of a half destroyed building. The monsters already began reconstructing what was destroyed. They didn't notice me sitting there and were wondering where I went.
There was no time for helping with the reconstruction. I had other things to do. The eastern nations, the humans, the goddess. It was time to create a plan of action.
Meanwhile, Cassius was walking around in the underground areas I built because of an unfamiliar aura he felt. Then he came across Grendel who was staring inside of a cage. He looked inside and was shocked to see the priest.
"Why is there a human here?" Cassius asked.
"I have a theory. He was brought here by the master. Most likely he's the one behind the attack."
"So he was imprisoned?" Cassius looked at Grendel's sad expression. "What were you told to do with him?"
"Well..."
I stood from the top of the building and walked down behind it into the forest.
"Uzzaran, you seem to be impatient."
"I'm not in a hurry. My mind was just taken over by emotions. It was the first time in so long I saw a large group of humans together. I apologize if it makes you upset."
"There's no need for that. But don't let your emotions take over again."
"Again?"
"I'm implying that we'll be doing a lot more of that from now on. So there's no need." Clara. How old is the goddess?
"Around 40 to 50,000 years old."
That means that she hasn't been around since the dawn of time, correct?
"Yes."
Tell me, how did she become a deity?
