Chapter 14 - experience points

Erie couldn't believe it; he opened the book again and looked through it. "But I have a few books about the Sun Warriors," he thought. Why didn't I get a quest update then?"

He read the last few pages, which remain once more.

"The king broke the alliance with the humans; he placed planet cores on the planet from where he came. But later, I was outlawed. I stood in chaos, and my people were banned and exiled from the small green plane called Eart. We now..."

Erie read the text over and over. "What the hell does this even mean? It makes no sense! " he began to yell inwardly. Erie frantically looked around the "Su" session, but he found that many books were missing, and there was no other information about the Sun Warriors.

He heard a scream in the library, and Erie looked up. A boy was standing in the far distance. "Is that Jake?" he thought. He looked harder, but he couldn't see anyone. But a moment later, he felt a presence behind him. He took a deep breath and slowly looked behind him, "Thank Helios, he's not here."

After Erie finished reading library books, he took a deep breath and decided to look around for Gene. He got up and looked around the library. "Wait, that's Jake!" he blinked again. He wasn't there.

"Okay, Erie, you know this guy has a weird ability, but just because you've seen him does not mean he's stalking you."

"Ah!" Eerie jumped as he saw Jake staring in front of him. "Oh, UGh, Jake?"

Jake tilted his head and looked at the book Erie was holding. He then looked at Erie again.

"Ugh, this is a book about sun warriors," Erie said, holding up the book to show Jake. But Jake was gone again. Erie took a deep breath and kept walking. He was getting used to Jake's appearance and reappearing relatively fast, but this still gave him chills.

Erie continued to look for Gene but couldn't find him in the library anyway, so he decided to leave. The sun was bright outside, and it was midday. He checked his watch and noticed it was around 3 p.m. The moment he stepped outside, another notification displayed in his vision.

"Daily quest: Meditate in sunlight for 30 minutes."

"40 EXP for daily quest"

"EXP: 35/200"

"Status window: Sleep deprivation"

"Oh yeah, I almost forgot." Erie starred at his level and his experience points. He forgot that he could level himself up, giving him an edge over other students. He took a deep breath and saw a tree in the middle of the library courtyard.

He walked over to the tree and meditated for 30 minutes to complete his quest. After completing his first quest, he received a ping,

"Daily quest has been completed."

"40 exp gained"

"EXP: 75/200"

"energy replenished"

"Wait! This is all I have to do to replenish my energy!?" Erie smiled at this thought. Thirty minutes in the sun was never bad, and he was happy the system gave him free meditating points.

Something grew inside Erie, though. He wanted to level up to level 3. He couldn't wait to see what next skill he would unlock, but at the moment, he couldn't do much because school hadn't started yet.

He continued walking down the pathway. He looked at all the students sparring outside, but something seemed a little off about their sparring.

Erie finally reached the center of the building and saw a boy walking directly toward him. The boy was short but also stocky, as if on a pure meat diet, working out several times daily.

"Is he walking towards me?" erie thought. "What do the baldy want?"

The boy had a bronze ribbon as Erie did, so Erie just tried to ignore him. The boy stopped Erie. "Hey!" erie kept walking, then he stopped right in front of him and looked at eries watch. He saw that Erie had an FFF ranking.

Erie looked at his watch and saw he only had a rankling FF. "Well," he paused, "fresh meat!"

Erie stared at the boy and took a deep breath. "It time already?" he said out loud. But this was a little different. Instead of name-calling, he demanded currency.

"Just give me your currency, and I'll let you walk away."

"I'm not giving you crap, baldy." erie said calmly and tried to continue walking, but something stopped him from walking.

Since he was a double F rank, the only potential prospects he could target were people like Erie, who had no ability, and Tripple F ranks; this means he was at the bottom of the academy. He was used to this treatment, and he never liked it; people like Baldy were the scum of the planet Erie tried to avoid people like him, but he always had to fight, and he stood up for other orphans like himself.

Erie debated whether to allow the boy to stop him from continuing his day. He didn't want to entertain a potential fight on his first day at the academy.

"Hey, I said, give me your currency! If you do this, then I'll let you go!" he held his write-up higher, showing that he was a double F rank. Erie leaned back to move his fist out his face.

He slapped Baldy's wrist, "He moves, man. It's not even the first day of school yet, and you already have a power trip." Erie announced, "Get Lost, Baldy."

"What the hell?" the boy screamed. He stood in Erie's face, trying to size him up, and stared into his eyes, unfazed by his taunts.

"What the hell! You are a Tripple Frank! Piece of crap!"

"You know I dealt with people far scarier than you." Erie said out loud, "Higher-leveled people in your town must have bullied you; it's sad, too, because aren't you from the city?"

The boy spat in front of Erie. "What of it? What are you going to do about it? You weaker than I am!"

Jake stared into the distance, remained quiet, and watched how Erie would handle the situation. Jake had seen this many times before and knew that Erie would receive this type of bullying; for some reason, he was drawn to Erie. He wanted to step in, but this guy was far too weak for him to help Erie, so instead of standing on the roof, he just decided to watch from the trees.

He instantly appeared at the tree but was above a couple of girls. They screamed as he appeared, and someone threw a cup of water at him. The water went right through him, and he was untouched.

"What are you ?" one of the girls asked. Jake didn't acknowledge them as he watched the fight he believed would unfold. He then reappeared at a different tree where no one was standing.

The bully was at the bottom of the hatchery at his school, so he was surprised to see a person of a lower ranking than him. He saw many people at the academy with a double F and triple F Ranking.

Baldy had a double F, which means at least he had an ability, but it was not fully developed.

Erie noticed he called his fist up, and tiny sparks started to envelop his fist. Erie knew he was preparing for something because he could feel a change in the air before him. Before he could move, a notification screen popped up in Erie's vision.

"Energy rise has been detected."

"New threat detected"

"Quest recieved."

"First fight with a higher level.

"Reward: 50 EXP"

Jake tilted his head. He noticed Erie's eyes widen a little, like he was almost shocked. Then he noticed Erie smile. Jake smiled slightly and shook his head for approval. He saw Erie take a stance and then shook his head. Erie took a horrible fight stance.

Jake decided to monitor Erie from then on but did not know that Erie had the edge over everyone in the academy.
