Erie sat on the nearest bench, unable to take in what he had just read. He couldn't believe what he was ready for. After seeing the last message, there was only one thing he could not unread.
"Did I become a sun warrior? Was that book Mother gave me real?"
On the ground, Stacy moved around, wincing in pain.
No matter how hard he tried to ignore the message, he could not help but put together all the tasks the system had him doing; the book he read gave him additional points for reading the quest he received to learn more about the sun warriors.
"So when I touched Jake, I took his life energy?" Erie couldn't help but think about the book. "Sunwarrios have been outlawed, so what does this mean for me?" Erie didn't know how to consume life energy, and the moral side of Erie didn't want to take anyone's life. Fighting was one thing, but taking life was another.
He finally stood up from the bench and walked over to Stacy, who was lying on the ground. It was the perfect opportunity for him to take his life energy. Somehow, Eerie knew what to do, and it was almost instinctive for him.
Erie closed his eyes and turned his head; he paced back and forth, trying to reason with himself. He could hear the heartbeat of Stacy lying on the ground, and he began to see a white aura around him. Without a second thought, he kneeled towards Stacy and hovered his hand over Stacy's heart; the energy around Stacy felt cooking and almost refreshing for Erie.
"additional quest:
"Take a portion of the victim's life energy to receive one stat point."
Many questions ran through eries mind, but he didn't know the answer either: how much energy did he need? Does this drain the person's life? Would they gain the energy back after he takes it? What happens if he takes too much energy? Would he know that Erie took energy from him?
Lilly stood behind a few trees, watching Erie. She followed him at a safe distance and watched him beat a student who was ranked higher than him and had an ability.
After the victory, Lilly smiled. She didn't think he would win his fight, but she couldn't help but realize that he was the same person in the courtyard who had fought before school started. "So you're the same Tripople F ranked that defeated the bald guy?" she thought.
The fight went in Erie's favor because Stacy was overconfident and didn't know that Erie had a fighting skill; Erie took the opportunity and used it to his advantage.
However, after the fight, Lilly noticed something familiar and strange happening to Erie. She watched as he fell to the ground. He looked like he was in pain, and he began to squeal. Lilly wanted to help but watched for her surroundings to ensure no one was coming.
And the next moment, he stood over Stacy with his hand over his chest. He was staring at his opponent like he was fascinated. Erie placed his hand on Stacy's chest, and he closed his eyes to take a deep breath/
"Why is he feeling on him?" Lilly wondered. "Does he like feeling on people or something?" This guy is a real creep." the next moment, Erie stood up and began pacing back and forth again, unable to make a decision.
"damn, I don't know what will happen if I take some of his life energy, I took Jake, but that was on accident. I can't just go around taking life energy from people. Maybe if I get a little, he will never notified? or he could still live?" He was mumbling to himself and pulling his hair.
Trying to confirm what she was seeing, Lilly moved from tree to tree; she disappeared and reappeared in a tree in front, but she appeared in a small tree limb, causing it to move slightly.
Erie's ears perked a little, and he snapped out of his thoughts. "What was that?" Erie looked around and couldn't find any, but he did. Or Aroraora floating newar. It was different from Stacy's. Erie wanted to avoid getting caught, so he ran back toward the school.
Lilly heard the tree's movement but didn't think it would set off an alarm for Erie. She closed her eyes because she knew she had made a mistake. Erie took off towards the school, but Lilly couldn't help but wonder.
"what was that all about? he didn't do anything in the end. He didn't even get his currency back." Lilly was too curious to leave the situation alone.
Erie hurried back to the school. He slowed down his jog to a mere walk. He started to notice energies swirling around in the school, and he was beginning to be drawn to them. "Why can't I turn this off?"
"Energy sense deactivated."
Erie was shocked by the system. He didn't know that it was a system technique. The energy disappeared, and he was now able to focus. The lack of energy made him feel hungry, and the bag of food he had in his hand didn't look as good as before. All he wanted was something fresh to eat. "I wonder how long I would have. I don't want to take someone's life energy."
When Erie finally arrived back at the school, he decided to stop by the bathroom. He looked at himself to see if there were any noticeable changes. His skin seemed solid tan, and his hair seemed more vibrant. Other than that, no other changes were made.
"That's a relief. I'm happy I don't look like some of those beings I have seen in the book; they looked scary, but why could I see energy like that? That was so random."
Erie decided to open his stats to see what stats have upgraded.
"Name: Erie Sunheart."
"Race: Sunlet"
"HP: 100/100"
"exp: 5 of 400"
"Strength: 9.'
"Agility: 17."
Speed: 18."
Stamina: 13."
"Stat point available: 1."
"Energy level 30 of 200 percent."
From what he saw, he noticed his energy level was capped at 200 percent. He has seen a few points increase, especially in his strength department. He was pretty happy about his stats. Beachside, all he ever focused on growing up was speed.
Still, the level has granted him a free stat boost as well. When Erie selected the stat point in the system, he could allocate the single state of strength, speed, agility, or stamina. After thinking about it for a while, he knew he needed to be stronger, so he added it to his strength.
"Strength: 10."
Erie wanted to put more into his ability for his reflexes, but he thought his strength needed to catch up with his other stats before improving his speed and agility again; he knew that the school had a combat class. But he thought he could use the new combat gear to help enhance the stats where he lacked.
Erie has always liked reading books about Naurto. He wants to be a ninja like Saskaue or Itachi, but their fighting styles are far different.
Erie wondered why the system only gave him one stat point, but he recalled that the system would give him an extra stat point if he had taken life energy from the person he had defeated in the fight. He wanted to get as strong and as fast as he could.
However, Erie was unsure whether he could complete the task. in the end, he decided to go to the library and do more research o
m the sun warriors.
He knew the next step in developing the system was to create a Sun Warriors system, so he would contact the Sun Warriors as much as he could to see if there was an alternative to using life energy.
With his plan in mind, he returned to the room. He heard a noise in his backyard and saw Jake and Gebe practicing together. Gene was trying to create a water ball in his hand. Jake was silent, giving Gene hand motions to follow. Gene looked visibly frustrated as the water formed and fell to pieces after a few seconds.
"This is so hard!" Gene said aloud, and then he saw Erie finally coming back from the store. "Dude, you have been gone for hours. Where did you go?" Gene walked over to Erie, and the water behind Gene vanished. "We were getting worried that something happened to you!"
Erie forced a tired smile. "I just wanted to explore the city," he lied. "I'm a little tired, though, so I'm going to bed, okay?"
Gene stretched, nodding. "Yeah, I'll call it a night too."
Jake glanced at him but said nothing. He seemed to want to keep pushing Gene in training but eventually let it go.
The three returned to the house, cleaned up, and turned out the lights.
Erie lay in bed, but sleep refused to come.
His stomach churned painfully, a deep, gnawing hunger twisting inside him. His body felt empty like something vital had been drained from his core.
All he could think about was Boiok—he needed to learn more about the Sun Warriors.
If the message was real… how much time did he have before his body completely shut down?
Would he even make it to the morning?
He finally drifted into an uneasy sleep with no answers or other choice.
The moment Erie's eyes opened, he knew something was wrong.
His stomach burned, his head throbbed, and his entire body felt like it was shutting down.
His limbs were weak. His breathing was ragged.
He forced himself to sit up and immediately opened his system.
[System Alert]
"8 hours have passed."
"You have lost 80 HP."
"HP: 20 / 100."
"Energy 0 OF 200."
"HP decrease has reached 50%. HP will continue to drop."
