The mall was bustling with people, the hum of chatter and the occasional sound of shopping carts rolling over the tiles filling the air. Evelyn moved through the aisles, carefully selecting items and placing them into her cart. Her parents were in the clothing section, picking out essentials, while Ashley excitedly browsed through the children's section, marveling at all the colorful outfits.
Evelyn had just reached for a few canned goods when she turned to move forward—and suddenly collided with someone.
The impact was mild, but it was enough to knock several items out of her cart and onto the floor. A few of the stranger's belongings tumbled as well, rolling across the tiles.
"Oh! I'm so sorry!" The man hurriedly crouched down, reaching for the fallen items. His voice was deep yet gentle, carrying a hint of urgency.
"It's okay," Evelyn responded, bending down to help him pick up the scattered goods. She glanced up briefly—and froze.
