I took a deep breath and looked towards Autumn, trying to gather the right words.
"Miss Autumn, it really isn't any trouble for me at all, believe me," I said sincerely. "In fact, it would be quite good to have you two around. Sam was a very close friend of mine, and... I really want to honor his memory by taking care of his parents, if you would allow me."
I spoke as politely as I could, hoping they would hear the genuine care in my voice and get convinced without feeling burdened.
Autumn looked at Ron, and for a brief moment, it was as if they were having a silent conversation without words, only emotions passing between them. Then, she turned back to me, a small but warm smile touching her lips, and nodded.
"Alright, sweetheart," she said gently. "Since you are insisting so much, I suppose we don't have any other choice then."
Her words lifted a heavy weight from my heart.
I felt relieved — truly, deeply relieved.
