Where is Abhimanyu? What happened to him? Why isn't he even answering my texts? These thoughts filled my mind as I headed toward his apartment. When I reached his door, my eyes were red and full of tears; all I wanted was to see him. I started banging on his door and ringing the doorbell. After a moment, he opened the door, shocked to see me. I said in a choking voice, "Why didn't you come? Where were you?" I yelled and shouted in pain, but he didn't say a word.
Then, a voice came from behind him. "What is all this?" It was his father. When he looked at me, he wore an annoyed expression and moved Abhimanyu behind him. "We can't let our son marry a girl who is abandoned by her own parents." His words sent a cold wave through my body, and my brain went numb. I felt myself falling back in grief, but I had Harsh behind me, holding me up. He looked at me and said, "What happened, Saru?" I replied, "He doesn't want to marry me." Harsh was also in shock and asked Abhimanyu, "What happened? If there is some misunderstanding, we can clear it up."
Abhimanyu simply replied, "I can't marry her. I'm sorry." Heartbroken, I turned toward his door and shut it in their faces. I walked toward the car with Harsh shouting behind me, "Saru, wait! Saru, wait!"
