Eliza's barrage of questions made Lily chuckle softly as she pinched Eliza's hand, signaling her to lower her voice.
"Can you speak a little quieter, Lisa? I don't want too many people knowing about this."
Eliza shook her head and leaned in slightly. "Why bother whispering when Mr. Alger is going to hold a press conference in fifteen minutes anyway? He's obviously going to clarify that photo. What I want to know is why you kept something this big from me? I'm your friend, Ly. Haven't I always told you I'd support you no matter what?"
"That marriage wasn't because of love, Liz."
"But?"
"Because I owe a lot to Papa Daniel and Mama Helena. You know how sick my father was back then, right? My salary alone could never cover all of Papa Roger's medical expenses."
