Luthor ducked inside first, drawing his sword as he checked the area. When he gave the signal, Vardy followed, setting Tracy down carefully.
She exhaled, leaning back against the stone wall, her ankle throbbing. "That was fun."
"Fun?" Ferah scoffed. "We barely made it out alive!"
Selene smirked, stretching her arms. "Barely still counts."
Luthor sat down, catching his breath. "We need to figure out what's next."
Vardy didn't speak. He was still gripping the arrow that had nearly ended him.
His mind was elsewhere.
Back at the fortress.
Back to Dean.

Dean's Chambers
The sound of footsteps echoed through the grand hall of Dean's fortress.
Dean stood by the massive window overlooking his empire, his fingers pressed together. His mind racing.
His jaw was tight, his expression unreadable.
Behind him, Marcus stood stiffly, hands clasped.
"They escaped," Marcus said after a moment, his voice careful.
Dean inhaled slowly, exhaling through his nose. "I can see that."
