Chapter 107: Escape from Haven-12
The station's walls groaned under the pressure of the detonations, sending tremors rippling through the failing structure. Lights flickered, and warning klaxons blared throughout the crumbling corridors as Outpost Haven-12 prepared to meet its final demise.
Raizen and his team raced through the station's collapsing halls, dodging falling debris as explosions tore apart the weakened infrastructure. Smoke and sparks filled the air, the temperature rising as fires spread unchecked.
Liana's voice crackled over the comms. "I've got the flagship's extraction sequence prepped, but the station's interference is still blocking the docking clamps! You need to override the lockdown manually!"
Seraphina barely broke her stride as she responded. "Leave it to me."
Without hesitation, she veered off toward a side corridor, heading for the station's control hub. Raizen watched her go before glancing at Joran. "We buy her time. Keep moving."
The Final Stand
The mercenaries who had survived the initial skirmish weren't finished. They were waiting.
As Raizen and his squad rushed toward the docking bay, gunfire erupted from the shadows, forcing them into cover. Plasma bolts tore into the walls, and two of their allies were struck down instantly.
Joran cursed. "They're setting up a kill box!"
Raizen's eyes flashed. Not today.
He charged forward without hesitation, his Draconic Aura igniting as he closed the distance. His blade met flesh and steel alike, tearing through enemy ranks with ruthless precision. The mercenaries faltered, their confidence breaking as their strongest fell in mere seconds.
Kain, from his elevated position, fired with deadly accuracy. "We need to move now!"
Just as the last enemy fell, Seraphina's voice rang through the comms. "Docking clamps disengaged! Get to the ship!"
The Escape
They sprinted to the shuttle, the hull shaking beneath their feet as more explosions detonated in the distance. The docking bay was in ruins, the automated systems failing as the final countdown neared zero.
As they boarded, Liana shouted from the cockpit, "Brace yourselves!"
The moment the doors sealed, the shuttle blasted away, escaping the dying station with only seconds to spare. The final explosion of Outpost Haven-12 lit up the void behind them, debris scattering into the depths of space.
Raizen exhaled, watching the station's destruction. Another piece of the past, gone. But not forgotten.
Seraphina, standing beside him, murmured, "This war isn't over. Not by a long shot."
Raizen smirked. "Good. I'm just getting started."
Their journey was far from over. And now, the real battles would begin.
