Chapter 123: The Last Stand
The moment the checkpoint doors blasted open, chaos erupted.
The station enforcers opened fire, blue plasma bolts streaking through the air. Raizen dove forward, his Crimson Fang Energy Blade igniting in a fiery arc as he cut through the first wave of gunfire.
Joran charged alongside him, slamming into an enforcer and sending him sprawling. Kain took cover behind a cargo crate, his rifle sending out precise, calculated shots that dropped enemies one by one.
Selara ducked behind cover, reloading her twin pistols. "I don't suppose you had a backup plan?"
Raizen smirked. "You know me. Improvisation is the plan."
Seraphina extended her hands, a wave of violet energy exploding outward, shoving two enforcers into the wall with bone-crushing force.
But they kept coming. More reinforcements flooded into the docking bay.
Liana's voice crackled through the comms. "Raizen, you need to get to the corvette now! They're sealing off the hangar doors!"
Raizen spun, slicing through another guard. "Then open them back up!"
"I'm trying! Their lockdown protocols are tougher than expected!"
Joran growled, knocking an enforcer unconscious. "We don't have time for this!"
Breaking the Blockade
Raizen's golden eyes flickered. He needed an opening.
Then he saw it—the main support struts holding up the security barricades. If he could bring them down, they could rush through.
He turned to Seraphina. "Think you can collapse that wall?"
She followed his gaze, then nodded. "Cover me."
Raizen and Joran charged forward, drawing fire as Seraphina focused. Her energy built around her, heat distorting the air before she unleashed a focused shockwave.
The entire side of the barricade buckled and collapsed, sending debris crashing down, cutting off the remaining guards.
Raizen grinned. "That'll do."
Final Run to the Corvette
Selara bolted toward the ship, punching in an override code. The corvette's ramp lowered, its engines already warming up.
Raizen covered the others as they boarded, deflecting a few final shots before leaping onto the ramp himself.
Liana's voice came through. "I got the hangar doors open! Punching in your escape vector now!"
The moment Raizen hit the deck, Selara slammed the controls. The corvette's thrusters fired, lifting them off the station floor just as the enforcers regrouped.
They barely cleared the doors as station cannons swiveled toward them.
Kain strapped into the co-pilot seat. "This is gonna get rough."
Raizen exhaled. They were out—but the chase had just begun.
