Chapter 132 - Ch 132 : Gildarts

After the Oracion Seis incident, the guild quickly returned to its usual peace.

Meanwhile, after reminding Wendy not to reveal his identity, Mystogan once again left.

The expansion of Anima was becoming increasingly severe, and the situation was truly urgent.

As for Noel, he finally had a few days of rare leisure.

"Even though my personality is the dominant one… his personality still leaves residual influence… No, I should say that the will of the 'God' still lingers."

In the morning, sitting on the second floor of the guild, Noel looked at his slender hands, opening and closing them as he muttered to himself, "I still occasionally have the very troublesome thought that 'everyone is just an insect'... Thankfully, the effect isn't too strong. At least, it doesn't show in my daily life. I suppose this can be considered a side effect. As for whether it will lead to any consequences, I'll just have to take it one step at a time..."

"No good!"

A loud shout from the first floor interrupted Noel's thoughts.

Immediately after, the sound of bells echoed throughout Magnolia.

Hearing the bells, Noel was momentarily stunned.

Then, as if realizing something, he let out a knowing, faint smile.

"This bell... Haha, it's Gildarts, isn't it? He's back. How nostalgic. It's already been three years since he left."

..............

"Gildarts is…? I've never seen him before. Just who is this bigshot?"

On the first floor of the guild, Lucy, as a newcomer, looked around at the guild members who had erupted into excitement as soon as the bells rang.

She muttered in confusion.

Hearing Lucy's words, Mirajane smiled and explained, "He's Fairy Tail's strongest wizard~"

"What? You mean he's even stronger than Noel?" Lucy asked in surprise.

Hearing Lucy's question, Erza showed a thoughtful expression and hesitated slightly before saying, "Hmm… that I'm not too sure about. A few years ago, Noel definitely wouldn't have been able to beat Gildarts, but now… it's hard to say."

"Just how dangerous is this guy…? Well, whatever. But why is it so noisy?"

"It's like a festival, Carla," Wendy said with interest.

"What a noisy guild..." Carla frowned in dissatisfaction.

Mirajane said softly, "Well, it's no wonder everyone is so excited. He hasn't been back for three years."

"Three years? What was he doing all that time?"

"Above S-rank missions, there are SS-rank missions, and beyond those, there are jobs known as Ten-Year Missions..."

"Ten-Year Missions?"

"They're called that because no one has been able to complete them in ten years. Speaking of which, within the guild, Noel and Laxus once teamed up to complete a Ten-Year Mission. But what Gildarts took on was something even harder— a Hundred-Year Mission."

"A Hundred-Year Mission? So, it's a mission that hasn't been completed in a hundred years?"

"Yes."

Just then, an announcement rang in everyone's ears:

"Magnolia is switching to Gildarts Mode. All residents, please proceed to designated locations immediately."

"This is getting way too noisy," Carla complained.

"But why?" Wendy was also puzzled.

Lucy rubbed her chin thoughtfully. "What is Magnolia's 'Gildarts Mode'?"

"You'll see if you go outside."

A warm yet slightly husky voice came from nearby.

Lucy turned her head and saw Noel standing not far away with a gentle smile.

"It's something quite interesting," he continued.

"A unique sight that belongs only to Gildarts… You could even say it's one of Magnolia's special landmarks."

Suddenly, the ground shook violently.

Lucy, Wendy, and the others rushed outside, only to witness the entire town seemingly reshaping itself—buildings rising slightly higher, and a straight pathway opening from the outskirts of Magnolia all the way to the Fairy Tail guild.

"The city just split apart!!!" Lucy cried out in shock.

Seeing her reaction, Noel chuckled. "Interesting, isn't it? Gildarts uses a magic called 'Crush,' which turns anything he touches into dust. The problem is, despite his overwhelming strength, he's terrible at controlling his power. On top of that, he tends to zone out while walking, and if he's not careful, he ends up destroying buildings just by passing through them. To prevent that, Magnolia has what's known as 'Gildarts Mode.'"

"That's just ridiculously dumb! They remodeled the entire town just for him?!"

"This is incredible, Carla." Wendy marveled.

As everyone was talking, a scruffy-looking middle-aged man with dark red hair, wearing a black cloak, walked into the guild.

Upon entering, Gildarts glanced around, shaking his head and looking puzzled.

He frowned slightly before walking up to Mirajane and asking, "Hey, young lady, I remember there was a guild called Fairy Tail around here?"

Mirajane smiled and replied, "This is Fairy Tail. Also, I'm Mirajane."

"Mira?" Gildarts was momentarily stunned before showing a surprised expression.

"Oh! You've changed so much! Could it be that while I was away, you managed to defeat Erza and started dating Noel? They say love changes a woman, and it seems to be true!"

Thud! Just as Noel was approaching, he stumbled and nearly fell to the ground.

Steadying himself, he looked at Gildarts speechlessly. "Ahem... What are you even saying, Gildarts...?"

Mirajane's face instantly turned bright red. "Gildarts! You're making me mad!"

"Hahaha, long time no see, Noel! You and Mira are so shy. By the way, the guild looks brand new!" Gildarts continued looking around in amazement, completely ignoring Noel's exasperated expression.

"GILDARTS!"

Suddenly, a loud shout rang out. Gildarts turned toward the source and saw Natsu staring at him with a determined look.

"Oh, Natsu, it's been a while."

Natsu grinned, stomped on the ground, and charged toward Gildarts, throwing a punch. "I told you—we're going to settle this once and for all!"

Watching Natsu rush toward him, Gildarts simply smiled, unfazed.

He slightly tilted his body, extended his right hand, grabbed Natsu, and casually tossed him upward.

Natsu crashed straight into the guild's ceiling.

"As expected… he's still insanely strong!" Natsu exclaimed excitedly despite being effortlessly defeated.

"The old man hasn't changed a bit."

"A true man among men!"

Gildarts glanced around the guild, chuckling. "There are quite a few unfamiliar faces. Things really have changed."

"GILDARTS!" A voice suddenly called out from the bar.

Gildarts turned around to see Makarov speaking up. "Oh, Master, long time no see." He walked over to Makarov.

"How did the job go?"

Gildarts scratched his head with a sheepish grin and then burst into laughter. "Hahaha! Nope, couldn't do it!"

"No way… Gildarts actually failed a mission?"

"How is that possible?"

"Even the old man couldn't complete it?"

"Knowing when to step back—that's the mark of a true man..."

Hearing Gildarts' words, the guild members erupted into murmurs of disbelief.

Gildarts' strength was beyond question.

Even though Fairy Tail had seen a surge of talented wizards over the years, finding someone capable of defeating Gildarts was still an incredibly difficult task.

Even before the Oracion Seis incident, when Noel's soul fusion was incomplete, he too was no match for Gildarts.

Of course, that was no longer the case now.

The fusion of his two personalities had pushed Noel's power to the very threshold of another realm—even without using his divine abilities.

And yet, Gildarts had still failed his mission.

Naturally, this left everyone in shock.

"(Even Fairy Tail's strongest wizard couldn't complete it… Just what kind of mission is a 100-year quest?)" Lucy muttered in astonishment.

As if hearing Lucy's thoughts, Erza gave her a cautionary look and said, "You're far from ready for a 100-year mission. Just forget about it."

"Huh?! Do I really look that excited?"
