Chapter 87 - CHAPTER 87

The secret technique of Avatar was a success, bringing a sense of relief to Uchiha Kiyo.

Previously, this technique had only been a theory—it had never been tested, nor had the panel recorded it.

This Avatar Secret Technique was essential for many of Uchiha Kiyo's future plans. Now that he had successfully executed it, he could finally relax.

"Then, change your face, infiltrate Konoha, and wait for the right moment."

The clone—also named Uchiha Kiyo—nodded, confirmed his bearings, and prepared to return to Konoha through the Land of Rivers.

"Oh, right. Also, make sure to locate the Root headquarters in advance. That way, when the time comes, you can act immediately."

Just as the clone was about to leave, Uchiha Kiyo remembered something important and spoke up.

Although the clone shared his thoughts, there was always a possibility it might overlook something. A simple reminder wouldn't hurt.

Watching the clone depart, Uchiha Kiyo smirked.

He was already looking forward to the moment when the clone would make its move.

Some minor details could be altered, but major events in history were difficult to change.

"I understand now.

At the cost of two of my comrades' lives, I've finally understood this truth."

Nawaki Senju 's death had caused an irreversible ripple effect.

Despite his efforts to protect him, he had failed to find a proper substitute. As a result, fate remained unchanged.

"So, this is how it works… like the predetermined course of events in a historical novel. I see now."

His gaze darkened.

"Danzo…"

"Even though I haven't found the perfect replacement yet, I didn't expect to get the opportunity so soon. It would be too easy if you just died. No, that wouldn't be enough. Living in agony for ten, maybe twenty years still wouldn't be enough to make up for everything you've done."

Danzo couldn't die—at least, not yet.

However, crippling his arms and legs in advance shouldn't drastically alter history, right? At worst, it would only accelerate the timeline a little.

And based on his calculations, his chances of success were quite high.

After all, he had three Shadow Clones alternating control, and even his clones had more chakra than his main body. If they focused solely on Danzo's limbs, their odds of succeeding were extremely favorable.

Letting out a deep breath, Uchiha Kiyo stopped overthinking and sat down.

He retrieved another military ration pill, placed it in his mouth, and resumed his Yuanyuan Gong cultivation.

His current mastery of Yang Yuan Gong was still incomplete, as he had only developed it for half a year. He still needed to concentrate while training.

"What a hassle. I need to keep practicing whenever I have spare time to master it as soon as possible."

Speaking of proficiency, his Body Flicker Substitution Technique was also incomplete. He was still struggling to inscribe the replacement seal instantly. Right now, he had to prepare Kunai in advance, which was inconvenient.

If he could develop muscle memory and engrave the seal instantly, he wouldn't need to set up replacements beforehand—he could simply inscribe them on the spot.

More importantly, this could be integrated with techniques like ninja tool creation.

One well-executed jutsu, and a storm of ninja tools would flood the battlefield—no need to throw them manually. That would save a lot of effort.

Within fifteen minutes, Uchiha Kiyo had recovered about half of the chakra he had spent earlier.

That equated to roughly five chakra points per second—an incredibly efficient recovery speed during combat.

Most people underestimated how long ninja battles lasted. While certain confrontations were over in an instant, many fights were actually drawn-out struggles that required careful tactics. Even performing a hand seal took about a second, meaning real battles consumed a lot of time.

And strategy? That didn't just appear out of nowhere.

During standoffs, unless one side had an overwhelming advantage, there was usually at least a minute of tactical maneuvering.

For Uchiha Kiyo, that meant recovering around 300 chakra points in a single confrontation—enough to cast a full-powered B-rank jutsu!

Having replenished his chakra, Uchiha Kiyo made a decision.

"I'll use this time to establish a foothold in the Land of Rain."

His mission wasn't just about exchanging intelligence. He was also tasked with gathering information on the Land of Rain.

Biting his thumb, he summoned a small snake, which swallowed his sealed scroll and slithered away toward Orochimaru's location.

By sending his reports now, he ensured he wouldn't delay the war efforts.

Although he didn't particularly care about the war itself, he wasn't about to let himself get caught up in it.

With his report sent, he now had about a month to focus on setting up his "arrangement" in the Land of Rain. He could easily complete his investigation during this process.

Honestly, the mission Orochimaru had assigned him was perfect—it gave him the freedom to operate with minimal oversight.

Half a month later…

In a small village in the central region of the Land of Rain—

Uchiha Kiyo once again used his Avatar Secret Technique, this time with the corpse of a rogue ninja.

The man had attacked Kiyo first, so he had no qualms about using him.

"Maintain the strength of a Chunin and keep a low profile. Your chakra should last for about two months."

"At the end of each month, find a secluded place and dispel yourself. Once I receive your memories, I'll come over to reassess the situation."

Even though he was talking to his own clone, the entire process still felt slightly strange.

However, Kiyo had long since adjusted to using Shadow Clones for training. This was no different.

With the clone stationed in the village, Kiyo's main body quietly departed.

After spending half a month running reconnaissance missions across the Land of Rain—plus the three days spent gathering intelligence earlier—he figured it was time to consider heading back.

The mission was supposed to last a month, but he couldn't actually stay outside the entire time. He had to return at a reasonable interval.

Unfortunately, despite spending so much time in the Land of Rain, he hadn't managed to locate the Nagato trio.

By now, Yahiko, Konan, and Nagato should have already met and formed their team.

The combination of yellow hair, red hair, and blue hair was hard to miss. But no matter how much he searched, he couldn't find them.

This left Uchiha Kiyo rather frustrated.

He had originally planned to track them and observe them from a distance—maybe even find a way to make contact.

…Not that he would actually interfere.

No, no, no—he wasn't foolish enough to act rashly.

Nagato's Rinnegan was crucial to his ancestor's resurrection. Who knew how many fail-safes had been placed on those eyes?

And Black Zetsu was lurking in the shadows, watching everything. Any reckless moves could draw attention.

Madara Uchiha still had at least ten years before he passed away, meaning his combat power was still terrifyingly high. Uchiha Kiyo wasn't about to poke a sleeping dragon.

For now, it was best to keep a low profile.

Perhaps when Jiraiya started mentoring them, he could find a way to get close.

At the very least, he could study Konan's Paper Ninjutsu—her talent for making explosive tags alone was worth investigating.

Since Nawaki Senju 's death, Uchiha Kiyo had truly grasped the brutality of the ninja world.

Gone were the days of naive optimism.

His actions had become more decisive, his calculations more ruthless.

Morality had its place, but survival came first.
